His on-campus workout numbers from last year were more impressive. USC reported that Wright had a 435 lb bench, 615 lb squat, 335 lb power clean and a 31" vertical jump.

With Grady Jackson holding out, he may become available. I don't know how much he's asking for but if it's reasonable, he'd be a good pick-up.

if hes holding out it can't be reasonable. However, he may just not want to play for the pack anymore, which is understandable. they're had one of the top 5 worst offseasons this year.

I've come to cool you guys down. Sure, 16 reps is not a pretty figure. It's pretty damn poor inf act but it is not as if we at least SLIGHTLY overrate this stat?

We herald a 40 time and then shoot it down due to the certain players ability to duck, dodge, swivvel, and in Cedric Bensons case, use agility to perform an impressive "on-field" speed.

I think it's relatively the same with a DT. Strength is integral but how he utilizes the strength he has, how much his mass is put to credence, how he uses his speed to build momentum all are factors. That and the fact I think he can get a lot stronger.

Saying that, I'd offer a cautious 4th round pick. A 3rd wouldn't be out of question and we sent 5 guys who know what they're doing.

I know his name doesn't come up much but I am going to pay close attention to what Josh Shaw can do during training camp. Little small to play a NT (290) in the 3-4 but could slide over to end and also could play a DT in the 4-3 alignment.

Is Orrin Thompson still on our team? I see in some publications that he is on our roster but I saw somewhere that we cut him. He has good size: 6-5 315 and anyway I say we go young at the position picking up an undrafted free agent or a young player who was reluctantly cut. Unless Saban wants to go the 2 year fix I don't know of any available NTs on the market but I'm sure there will be some cuts after TC.

He went to duke though. duke :monkeyl:

He is from Charlotte so it evens out.

if the fins coaches were really dissappointed with this work out then i'm pretty sure the officials from the other teams present were just as unimpressed. if anything i think this means we can get the guy with a 4th or maybe even a 5th, where as if he had a great workout it would cost a 3rd or maybe a 2nd. no matter what saban was thinking, either real or fake dissapointment, i love the fact that he left early. gotta be messing with the other teams personnel guys as to what sabans going to do.

Do u guys think.........

Mannny Wright is the Right choice in Miami and is he worth a 3rd and a look at or should we pursue Dt's in next years draft and free agency I wouldn mind having Rodrique Wright

If we are going to choose Rodrique Wright, we'd have to have a top 6 pick, which I'm not interested in having.

I'm not sure........I'm just massively disappointed in his strength. You've got to be a friggin' bull to handle the DT position in the NFL.
Something to possible to factor in and I do not know the answer. What is his arm length? Does he have really long arms?

If he has a long arms then he will most likely lift less simply because with each push he has further to go. Does not mean he is weak, just with a longer push you will weaken quicker. That why in the competitive weightlifting the guys usually are some short guy with short arms. They have a really short lift. Which makes lifting heavy weight and multiple reps easier than someone with a long push.

Like I said something that may make it a little different and with football being a sport of quick burst should not be a problem.

With Wright's lack luster performance, do we seek a trade now, wait to see who get's released, and re-load next year? I am for keeping our eyes and ears open for teams that may have to release someone, and if a possible trade can be done that's worth it, do it. As for Wright I wouldn't give up more then a fourth round pick for him, and that's pushing it.
I see the Giants letting Joesph go this year. He has been a huge bust up there and a return to his old stomping grounds might be just what he needs.
