Mess in Miami - BEST ARTICLE to date, and BEST Analysis Video to date (IMHO)

Dude, those guys batter their bodies to the point to where when they get older they drool, have to pee and poo into bags, can barely walk, think, talk, sleep or even perform in the sack.

Who are we to tell them they can't behave boorish in their private sanctuary? That's their domain in that locker room. So long as they're not molesting children, murdering, raping, stealing or other wise committing serious criminal acts, they should be allowed to vent and blow off steam. If that's what the want to do, so be it ... as long as it doesn't interfere with their performance in a negative way OR if a player says no.

This push for everyone to become Angelic little politically correct drones is sapping the human nature out of humanity and will sap the aggression out of football. Then we'll be stuck with an entire league of ratfink wusses like Martin.

No thanks, I like my ball players to be Alpha types.

The problem with your thought process is that there are 53 players on a oteam and everyone may not agree with racial , sexist or homophobic comments and should have the right to not hear them in their work envirnment.
Nobodys asking anyone to be an angel but everyone deserves respect. Not sure why people feel football players are somehow some special group of people that shouldnt have to worry about what other football players should have to deal with .
Its easy to say that its ok as long as a player says no but if thats the environment the pressure will be on the minority to just put up with it so that they fit in.

It's called Integrity. (How you act when no one is around.)

Lol .... wow.

Players can have integrity and still enjoy adult humor and rambunctiousness. C'mon man!

Well that's where I draw the line .... if someone doesn't agree then the activity should not occur. But, the key is, they address it among themselves.

I bet anything, if Ratfink would have gone to Cogs, Cogs would have put an end to it both from himself and with others. But, if no one was offended ...

If martin had went to cogs he would have probably been told to quit be a whiny little bitch, I very much doubt saying anything to a guy like Cognito would matter.
Now if he had spoke to other people in lockerroom who knows.

Joe Philbin is a very approachable man. Hard Knocks proved this.

I never believed in Haziing and think it is stupid and I pretty much said this from the get go. But there is no way Martin should have just walked away. It is premeditated IMO.

The buffalo bills taped a guy to the goal post and left. That can be a legal matter if it got carried out too far. Think about it.

Ive never been made tough through hazing. I was made tough by hitting a sled in the august sun until I was dizzy and almost halucinating.

Hard work on football field is what gets it done. Maybe if InCognito worked as hard to prepare as does in other endeavors he would be a top notch guard.

I just see this article as an endorsement of the further wussification of America, and manhood in general.

We've gone from John Wayne to Phil Donahue .... oh. the. joy.

While on the field, there is some merit to this. Off the field, not so much. Is it really that difficult to ask adults to act like adults and not heathens?

I've paraphrased this more than once, not only on this forum but in person: "No matter how often football likes to compare itself to war, it isn't war. This isn't the military. This is a game and, most notably, a business."
I end up with responses of "I'm a veteran blah blah blah and I see no harm in calling it along the lines of war", clearly they are losing or have lost their mind.

Yep, who knows. I don't know the answer to that, it's just my feeling on it. But yes, it could have gone either way. Although I suspect, things would have been settled to everyone's satisfaction, because these things happen all the time in close knit Alpha environments.

But taking something that we may see as immature or silly away from those guys because one guy didn't/couldn't/wouldn't handle discussing this with his team mates, then bashing them for being "unprofessional" and jumping up and down about "higher standards" is really telling them that we don't value their time tested valued traditions. We just want them to be mindless, emotionless, thoughtless little pansies.

No we dont value their time honored traditions of stupid haircuts , carrying pads and making people pay for dinner. Not to mention their racist rants at each other. We see the exact value of these things in the overall context of the sport. Sorry if you think people that dont act like this are somehow pansies.

Hazing is not about being made tough ... there's a disconnect here brought on by media mischaracterization. Hazing is about eliminating the sense of entitlement.

It's about earning your place before being given the opportunity to prove yourself.

This situation as had several different elements attached to it, clouding the root causes of why ratfink quit. In the end, that cause is what you said, it's about ratfink not being tough enough.

I would think you would earn your place by playing better than others on the field but I know thats silly pansey talk

I didn't say if they don't act like this they're pansies. I said, "We just want them to be mindless, emotionless, thoughtless little pansies". This is what we do by taking these options away from them. It's like neutering them against their will.

It simply should not be up to us, because we're not them and we're not in their world. This is their private domain, so long as everyone is on board, if they want to act like knuckleheads ... we should have no say in it.

This is no private domain. They still are employees and there still are rules, basic fundamental rules. Im not in the world of electricians but I venture to guess that they even have rules concerning EO and sexual harrassment
