Hello again all my fello :dolphin: fanzzzzzzz:

Much is being written about Ricky, Ronnie, the battle for starting QB and Saban's training camp.:shout: But let's all, for a moment, put those topics away on the side, and let's talk about Miami's wicked "D" :shark: for a moment.

Usually when people don't talk about something, it's almost certainly because it's not newsworthy enough or because there is nothing new to talk about. However, in the case of the Miami Dolphin defense, I think people aren't talking because they think the defense is the same. Our fans are all in agreement when it comes to our defense. They all think it will good once again (the usual).

However, this years unit has undergone various changes. We've lost Surtain. We've changed-up our 4-3 defensive scheme. We have a new defensive coordinator. We have a new D-line to compliment Taylor. We have depth at linebacker and in the secondary.

I think with supplimental draft pick  Manuel Wright, K. Carter and Vonnie Holliday and Jason Taylor....it will be very hard for anyone to run on us. And we will apply constant pressure on opposing QBs. The result will be a high number of turnovers (Ints, fumbles, etc.). Thomas, Seau and Madison will dominate. In fact, i predict 3 shutouts this year!!!! :mg: Yes, you heard me....

This unit will be "special." And by special, I mean a "vintage" Tampa bay or Baltimore Raven type of special. Mark my words. We will be a top 3 defense this year!!! Our defense along with a controlled running game and moderate passing game will win us many games this year. More than most expect.

What do all you think about our defense this year? Please voice your opinions here........

Why not give yourself a year to learn a new scheme with a new co-odinator before proclaiming 3 shutouts! Kinda blowin your own horn a little early. I don't expect much improvemnt until about week 6.

Hmmm? I don't know..

I don't see your Run D being as strong as you predict, Traylor isn't even in shape, manny Wright will be lucky to see the field.

I think the defense will be good... but 3 shutouts? That's insane, especially with our schedule... I'd be happy with 1 shutout. I say Top Ten D.

From your mouth to Gods ears man. I hope thats how it turns out, and i have a feeling it just might, but thats if our offense can compliment our D by keeping the D off the field.

I will drink to that. I think our defense wil most likely be ranked in the top 5. But it would be great to show all these critics that even though we have an aging defense that we can still get it done.

We have a NEW system to learn...
We have Questions at CB and maybe S...

I think we'll be a solid, top 10 "D", but not a top 3.
Maybe in a year or two, but not 2005.

Not only that Larry Chester suppossedly weighs 380 pounds, Junior has been hurt in camp alittle. To have this dolphin defense being compared to the 2000 Ravens defense has to be more than a little amusing to bills fans.

Anything can happen in the NFL. Safety is not much a question mark as before. Still a question mark, not a big one. It's CB I'm worried about mainly.

For this year we will still play primarily a 4-3 with some sort of a 3-4 look at times just to get used playing a 3-4, but my question is do you think all the vets in Miami forgot how to play in the 4-3?? I don't think so. Also we get extra camp time this year I think the most in the league. Our D will be stout.

Also we finished 8th overall even missing T.Bo and Chester from the middle of the Dline. We finished 2nd in pass D. We have been a solid on D for years, I think the Bill fans should be the ones refraning from the horn blowing.

I don't know why I have to keep reminding you Bill fans that the Fins went some 16 years without a losing season while the bills have gone just one out of the last four without a losing season.

Well, that's a pretty bold/optimistic call on the D...I tend to think that the D will be better than under Wanny's tutilege (sp) too...

But let me clarify what I mean...I think the D will not be the "bend-not-break" D that Wanny instilled (that usually broke when it counted late in the game). I also think that our D will be better because the O will be better. I don't think it will be in the top ten, but it'll make teams sit up and take notice. We will get burned by some big plays occasionally...early this season due to familiarity with the scheme and later because our CBs just aren't as good as they have been. When a good OC picks up on that, we'll get burned. But it will be because of better personnel, not poor schemes. We have some growing to do in this D. I think, with the addition of Schulters, we at the very least have ok starters and decent backups. We are hurting right now in the CB area...that'll just have to work out unless we either pick someone up later or Daniels answers the bell...Even if he does, we are still weak on nickel and dime personnel....

Because of our weak secondary, I can't go too far out on a limb and annoint this D as any better than in the top ten somewhere.

I hope your right, but we have a tough schedule this year and if we have any big injuries this season on defense we could be in trouble.

There a big difference from being a solid "D" to being a defense on the level of the 2000 Ravens defense. Where was your run defense ranked last year?

i think we can be top 10, but only if the pass rush does the job
