Miami Dolphins 4th round selection- Walt Aikens CB

Miami Dolphins: Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty: A- Grade
Someone in our Draft Day feature begged the Dolphins for more height in the secondary. He got his wish with the tall Walt Aikens. Cortland Finnegan is currently slated to start at corner for Miami, which has "disaster area" written all over it. Even though he's a fourth-round pick, Aikens could end up starting over the anemic Finnegan at some point this season.

Well Walter liked the pick... idk about Aikens but I sure agree about Finnegan

Well reading about him, he's a big, fairly athletic corner, good in press coverage. Has decent speed but not great long speed. Isn't richar sherman a big, press coverage corner, but not the fastest, and picked late? Not saying he's going to be anything like sherman, but some of the hawks good corners were picked late and were big. I like it after reading about him and thinking how corners are coming along in the nfl nowadays and whats working

ON espn they also said he was a good pick.

That doesn't matter, all that matters is what the morons who can barely type a sentence say.

I guess we don't have a ton of faith in Jamar Taylor or Will Davis.

I am glad we picked a CB. our LB's sucked but at least they were activated on Sundays

we lost 1 and 1/2 good CB's in FA

Let me tell you something . . . I watched Nolan Carroll walk from off the sidelines, after getting his ribs pounded during the game, back on the field holding his ribs and continuing to try to play. You mean to tell me we have 2 young highly drafted CBs on the sidelines, both healthy and active at the time, and we trot the very average (some would say below average) Nolan Carroll back out there with an injury?

Look, nobody is giving up on Davis or Taylor, but nobody should feel confident in either of their abilities right now. I mean we signed a guy from the 49ers practice squad late in the season who got key action in games before our own highly drafted rookies. CB is a nervous position on this team and I'm glad we are addressing it.

Agreed. I like this draft. Getting players who will contribute their rookie yrs and getting insurance for the future specifically Aikens.

I dont know what to think of this pick as I know nothing about this player.

From what Im reading this may have been a reach. Dont know what to think.

I see he has an arrest. Have to say I dont care for this pick. Hope he is a player. If he makes plays, he could grow on me I suppose.

Like this. We needed size in the secondary. I wonder if we'll move him to FS. There are character concerns and then there are CHARACTER CONCERNS. If the story is accurate then I don't hold it against the kid and he probably unfairly slid in the draft.

fast, big, physical, outstanding tackler, play maker with great football awareness. That's what i just watched. great pick!

Division 1 talent, division 2 intelligence apparently.

I like this pick though. He has natural talent. Great athlete.

He doesn't have character issues. He bought a stolen lap top from a teammate and then the school punished him to make a statement. He didn't know it was stolen.

I dont know the specifics. What I do know is he was convicted of a crime, so I doubt it was a complete misunderstanding. I do not believe what he says about this though, that's for sure.

He was convicted of a crime. Not that I care much as if you could play football you could play, but to dismiss it according to his explanation isn't correct either.

impressive finsiders interview... they all were this year
