Miami Dolphins Developing 80-acre Sod Farm To Support Their Home Field

Have to wonder if the Jags and Bucs struggle as much as we do with our turf. It shouldn't be this complicated in Florida but somehow the Dolphins can't figure it out.

Heard about this, I feel, for a few years now.

See if it makes a difference . . . .finally. That field was embarrassing at times last year, especially if both the Canes and Fins had to play on the field the same weekend.

Has nothing to do with "figuring it out."

The field is used year round and sometimes on the same weekend as Dolphins games. It's how the stadium gets paid off.

It has probably more to do with the tremendous amount of events Hard Rock Stadium has. The grass really has never time to recover. It is not so much just the Canes games but soccer events and mostly concerts and now the stupid Tennis garbage where the grass has to be covered. You know that once you cover the grass for a few days it is dead.

This is the downfall on the deal which was cut with the counties. Ross did not get paid tax payer money outfront but is getting tax money per event brought to Hard Rock Stadium. I think the numbers vary and go up to 6 Mill per event depending on exposure and possible economic impact to our area. His goal is and was to load up Hard Rock Stadium with events.

It has everything to do with figuring it out. Do you think Hard Rock is the only stadium to be used year round?

I mean Raymond James Stadium has been every bit as active as Hard Rock is trying to be so I agree Miami needs to “figure it out”.

I think a lot of it involves more diligence at the stadium level. More awareness of weather forecast/conditions within the timeline of events.

Having their own sod farm is great but Miami needs a strong logistics guy to run that entire operation. It is arguably the most vital aspect of ensuring a properly run event.

And I'm sure you have all of those other stadiums under a microscope like you do Hard Rock Stadium. Perhaps, just maybe, it isn't just a Hard Rock Stadium issue...

Maybe it isn't just a Hard Rock issue but the Dolphins are certainly trying to figure out a solution to their turf woes.

Can I get tickets to this event?

I mean watching grass grow is sounds similar in excitement level to how I've felt numerous games watching a Ryan Tannehill led offense the past 7 years.

I'd read somewhere that the extra shade since the seating cover was added limits the sunlight for the grass and that affects it as well.
