Worth the Money

Mike Wallace- 17.25 Million No Good player but WAY OVER PAID no way is he worth 17.25 Million. We have to many holes to fill and his salary is gonna prevent
us from being able to fill all those holes with quality free agents. We have a lot of cap space but we don't have enough for everything
Dannell Ellerbe-7.425 Million No Not worth the money at all. Not a terrible player but WAY OVER PAID. I watched Geno Smith run him over
Cameron Wake- 7.285 Million Yes Out of the Miami Dolphins highest paid players He is the best player
Phillip Wheeler- 6.4 Million No Do I even have to say anything he SUCKS
Brian Hartline- 6.2 Million Yes Im gonna say yes because he is productive and if others around him produce he has proven he can play football
Matt Moore- 5.5 Million No The man doesn't play and I feel he is no better than a backup
Dimitri Patterson- 5.4 Million No Guy cant stay healthy and has had 1 good season in like 8 seasons. The 4 picks last year was out of the norm for him
Dion Jordon- 4.675 Million No He didn't play much last year so he has to show something before I will say he is worth being one of the highest paid guys on team
Brandon Gibson- 3.735 Million Yes As long as he stays healthy
Reshad Jones- 3.610 Million Yes Needs to have a better season though
Brandon Fields- 3.586 Million No He is great but this is high salary for a punter
Ryan Tannehill- 3.455 Million Yes Cheap for a starting QB. Now he has to improve this year or its time to look elsewhere and move on
Mike Pouncey- 2.946 Million Yes
Jared Odrick- 2.779 Million Yes
Koa Misi- 2.3 Million Yes
Nate Garner- 1.79 Million No
Jimmy Wilson- 1.4 Million sure why not

The Miami Dolphins are paying way to much money to players that are not living up to their respective salaries. Unless these players start playing up to their salary level this team is not making the playoffs. The team has to many holes to fill and thanks to Mike Wallace's unrealistic Madden Salary we will not be able to fill all those holes. 4 Olineman, Free Safety, 2 DT's, 2 CB's, RB, TE. This team will lose some talent from last seasons team weather its Grimes, Starks, Solai, Clemons remains to be seen. You cant just assume if you lose one of those players that their replacement will be an upgrade unless its a known quantity. Plus with only 3 draft picks in the top 100 you cant expect to get a big contribution from your rookie class. Obviously we don't know how its all gonna play out but right now im not at all confidant in this team going forward. Just because in one season you were close to the playoffs doesn't mean you will be close the next season. Its not like Miami was much better than any of the teams that were close to the playoffs. Don't forget Miami held certain tiebreakers that gave them the edge and made the playoffs a realistic possibility. Their record wasn't anybetter than those other teams and even though Miami had the best chance of any team to get that last 6th spot they still failed. So this doesn't make me feel like we are "close" to the playoffs. We've all hear Wannstdat say were were close Sparano say we were close. I tired of hearing close I want IN. I just don't feel it with these players.

The team has too many holes to fill not because of Mike Wallace's salary but because of poor drafting over the past half decade or more.

Yea I mean we quite overpaid a one dimensional receiver but hell we haven't spent money in a lot of spots and continually miss on higher picks that we don't resign and that's a much bigger problem. Seattle overpaid Harvin and still won the superbowl.

Wallace was a one dimensional receiver in Miami because of the way he was used in Sherman's offense.

The Dolphins talked about when the reviewed film on Wallace before the season, they were surprised by the different ways Pittsburgh used to get him the ball. I thought after the Colts' game when they move Wallace around, Sherman would continue move Wallace around to create mismatches but for some reason he didn't.

Wallace has always been one dimensional regardless of what our coaches discovered. I mean its a hell of a diminesion.. Don't worry though Mike Wallace feels he can easily break the nfl td record he has just been sand bagging it all these years and was held back by Tannehill's and Rothlisbergers poor play.

Mike Wallace's new nick name is Rico

Brent Grimes disagrees with you about Wallace being one dimensional.
The criticism on Wallace is that he's not a complete receiver, doesn't run a full route tree and is unreliable as a go-to target. That hasn't proven to be the case with the Dolphins.

"It's not, 'If I can't get the deep ball, I can't do anything else,' " cornerback Brent Grimes told The Miami Herald. "He has good hands, can run other routes. He's not a one-trick pony."

his stats would disagree with grimes. infact his whining would disagree

Hit stats as a Dolphin or as a Steeler?

As the article stated, the Steelers frequently used Wallace on quick screens and slants. How often did you see the Dolphins use Wallace on slants?

Everyone keeps pointing out the $17 million cap hit for Wallace this year, but they need to remember his cap hit last year was just $3 million. So really his average over his first two years is an acceptable $10 million a year. It will drop back down to $12 million in 2015.

Wallace is earning big money, but keep in mind he turned down bigger money offers from other teams to be here.

The OP is accurate but, is telling less than half the story. Wallace, Ellerbe, and Wheeler all played last year for a "$1 Million" salary each. That is less than our punter is costing for the 2013 salaries of all three. Of course their cost is gonna go up but, why look at one without the other? It makes no sense.

Ellerbe is 28, and got a 5 year $35M deal to replace Dansy who is 32, and had a 5 year $43M deal, and would have cost just under $9M last year.

Wheeler is 29, and got a 5 year $26M deal to replace Burnett who is 31, and had a 4 year $20M deal. Also, Wheeler's salary drops to $2.9M next year.

We got younger and cheaper on the two LB moves, and they made sense at the time. Granted that they did not work out well last year but, that does not mean they they will not this year and for the future.

In any case, you need to look at the overall contracts and not just one year.
