Long was kind enough to stop and talk to reporters for a few moments on returning to work.
“It feels really good,” Long said. “We’ve got a good team. A lot of great guys came out here today and started strong. It feels good to be back out.”
Long said the adjustment to a new offense has been simplified with single words to help learn the system.
“One word plays,” Long said. “We just get up and go. Everyone knows where they’re going so it’s nice.”
The new offense has been referred to as a West Coast offense. When Dolphins coach
Joe Philbin was asked what’s the name for the offense, he turned on the reporter and said, “We will let you guys figure out a name for it, I don’t know.”
Long is already giving it a thumbs up to whatever it’s called in terms of competitive advantage.
