Dennards the top cover corner in the class as I see it and worthy of a top 20 pick but he's not a great scheme fit...verrett would be the scheme fit but at under 5 ft 10 and as a result likely destined to man the slot 19 is too rich...

My question is, if the guard from UCLA is as good as people are saying why wouldn't all of us be happy with him at 19? If this kid has 5-6 time pro bowl potential and instant starter, why look else where at the pick. We need oline and we need talent. I have my own feelings but I'd like to know other peoples opinion. I know people think there is more value at other positions but if you want starters through the draft and pro bowl talent, is this not a great answer?

I think we take Ebron or Mosely at 19 or trade down a few spots and take Shazier. I do not think OL will be our pick at 19. Taking a guard, or RT at 19 is just wasting the pick.

When will people realize that any pick after round 3 has a 20% chance of even being an NFL starter? It's statistically proven. Trading down for more picks is total BS. If another team is dumb enough to do that then trade up and let them go looking for acorns while we get a better impact player in round one. Piss on 4th, 5th and beyond, cuz you can find UDFA guys who could outperform them anyway. Jax needs a ton of picks, get their pick and they can have our 1st & 3rd and 4th rnd pick. We'll take a stud in round 1 who can instantly make our O-line legit in 2014 and a stud LB in round 2. After that it's just camp bodies.

JAX is going to want at least a 2nd and a 4th to move into the top 3. They're not going to get swindled like we did the Raiders. Considering we have more needs than just OL and LB, how about another OG, TE, RB, S. CB? Your picks after the 3rd reasoning is pretty funny considering Clay was a 6th round pick, Wilson was a 7th, Jones was a 5th, Carroll was a 5th, Matthews was a 7th, Miller was a 4th, Hartline was a 4th, Sturgis was a 5th, and D Jones was a 7th. If you have the right coaching, like Seattle, or just have an eye for talent you can find starters anywhere.

Or CB/S. Can get the same or better talent at guard from Trai Turner(projected to be 3rd-4th), Dakota Dozier(3rd), Chris Watt(5th-6th), or Ryan Groy(6th) than XSF, Martin, etc. in the 1st.

Jax is eyeing manziel hard...would draw the buzz that team needs in the ticket office...they aren't trading out when they can have whatever qb they want barring a St. Louis trade out in front of them...

He had a "bum shoulder" - that automatically eliminates him as the BPA for a "trade-up" in my view. Adding to the fact that he's a developmental "tweener" and not a true fit for our D, I would argue again, he was not the BPA.

Canadi-Phin's logic is sound. Xavier Su'a-Filo is the absolute safe pick who provided he can stay healthy, can keep on giving, year after year. Hickey can go for a bolder playmaker type pick in the 2nd or 3rd round but we need a good starter and he will probably be there.

Here are the somewhat realistic options at 19 for the Phins...

Tyler Lewan - long shot to fall, but could happen and being a UM alum....Ross may push for the pick if he does fall.
Zach Martin - Most likely candidate and good fit, though I think he ends up in Baltimore.
C.J. Mosely - The team realizes that they can't go into next season with Wheeler as a starter...if both Martin and Lewan are gone he seems like the most logical choice
XSF - Top guard in the class, very good scheme fit....would be option b if both tackles are gone and the team rates him higher then Mosely
Calvin Poyer - Top Safety, with the mediocre play of Jones and the injury history of Delmas, could provide much needed insurance....could do well in Coyle's Scheme

That's about it....Moses is not a 1st round tackle and only gets drafted is Hickey panics and doesn't feel he can find someone solid in round 2 or 3.

A trade down is possible, but highly unlikely.

I know that its always fun to say players later will be better, but if as most players there's a chance to bust, would you not take the best Guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson then take a chance at any one else? I know everyone loves sexy picks of "playmakers" but if you can put this kid in between probowlers Albert and Pouncey and have the next five years of road grading does that not sound excellent? This kid is a scheme fit and talented. There's other guys I'd like to see us take such as Cooks, even Shazier if I knew the coaching staff was commited to Jordan at SAM, but this kid would solidify our line immediately. I actually really like Turner and Dozier but I like talent not just playmaker talent.

In this day and age I wouldn't be surprised by Lewan, Moses, Martin, Matthews and Robinson all picked before us. Tackles are worth so much in the league today. ON both sides.
