Dolphins management has made it very clear that they need to upgrade the level of play at quarterback, and the team will likely do that through free agency or the draft.

That's why re-signing Henne, who produced a 75.7 quarterback rating in his four seasons, isn't an option Miami's willing to explore.

Chad has done what we've asked him to do. I like Chad personally very well. He's very smart. Very intelligent. Very tough. A football guy. He loves being around the game and is a very good teammate," Ireland said at the Senior Bowl last month."But this football team didn't win enough games when he was quarterback here. But that doesn't mean he did everything wrong, or right," Ireland said of Henne, who produced a 13-18 record as a starter for Miami. "If he goes somewhere else, Chad's a good football player. He can play in this league."

But there's a difference between being a player, and being a solid NFL starter. Which is why the Dolphins are ready to move on.

Its the right thing to do! Now thats get one that will take US to the BIG DANCE!!

Prediciton: By the 8th game of next season, Henne will be the second "Chad" who's started for the jest.

he'll be a nice backup for us who hopefully never gets to play b/c that would mean Sanchez was hurt.

Agree completely. He will not only push Sanchita for the job, but will take it.

i know because nobody could unseat the immortal HOF Sanchez......In all seriousness I think Henne would help because Sanchez will finally have someone youger than 40 to try and get his job and Henne will obviously be hungry and looking to prove himself, ultimately pushing Sanchez to improve

I don't think it's the whole someone "pushing him" stuff, he played poorly but the O played poorly around him. I think someone like Henne is perfect b/c he has tons of starting experiences, has proven he can play in this league(though not be a quality starter) and if Sanchez is banged up he can come in and hold the fort until sanchez gets back. The last 2 years if Sanchez got hurt we had 40+ yr old mark Brunell, I think there were times when mark was hurt enough where he should sit out a game but didn't b/c of the backup. Brunell was a great resource for him but brunell can't play anymore.

Even if he outplays Sanchez, which is a strong possibility, Rex won't start him unless they really start sucking, and then only the second half of the season. Either way, I think this is Sanchez's last year as a starter. He'll make a good back up for someone else in 2013. He can eat as many hot dogs and wipe as many boogers as he wants on the bench...
