I'll take a minority position and say that Tannehill needs to play about one quarter. Week 1 against the Patriots is arguably the biggest game of the year. It's a home game at 1:00pm in September. It's the best scenario one could have hoped for, and a loss would immediately indicate that winning the division is out the window. I would not be comfortable if a horrible interception is Tannehill's last play going into that game. If he could execute a successful drive, especially playing with second string skill position players, it would potentially help his confidence going into the New England game. The reward is worth the risk in my opinion.

Matt Moore could actually win some games for the Phins, in the event that RT is hurt.
Also, Moore could be a change-of-pace QB if RT struggles. Wouldn't hurt to have him come in as a change of pace QB in some games. BUT (and a big but) he's not the QB you want to rely on as your number one guy. RT beat him out as a rookie for a reason.

That was my thought process -- to get the bad taste out and get his confidence up. However, J.D. Wannyheimer has a great point: To let the terrible INT simmer and burn and fuel the fire for excellence. Never thought of it that way, and it might be better than giving him a series against the Rams.

Orleans Darkwa and Damien Williams. Lots of carries and see what they have. I have both making the roster Saturday and I am cutting ties with Daniel Thomas.

The sooner Miami cuts ties w. DT the sooner I'll believe they are serious about compiling a playoff roster.
As well as when Miami actually gets a real KR/PR and actually starts playmakers at the WR spots other than Wallace. Get Landry/Gibson in the slot and Williams in the 2.
It's time to value talent at skill positions, not low-ceiling illusory "consistency."

At this point of his career I don't think Tannehill needs to be a quarterback whose confidence is influenced positively or negatively by his final pre-season drive. Make a mistake - brush it off and move on. Lead a TD drive - put it behind you and dwell on the current drive. Tannehill knows New England is a good team, that should be all the motivation he needs. If he has to get a confidence boost, he can remember he beat the Patriots the last time they played... that should impact him more than what he does on a pre-season drive.

I'd still like him to play a few series. If that bad interception lingers and causes him to be gun-shy, then I'd rather that he play and regain some confidence. If they were playing any other team Week 1, I would be indifferent or lean towards him sitting out.
