Just finished reading an article about the hiring of Weaver as the new DC.

It mentioned that Weaver needs a better answer against Josh Allen and Buffalo, which is something we've discussed here.

Allen is 11-1 against the Dolphins with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Even though four of the last five games have been separated by one score, the Bills have given Miami problems. The division goes through Buffalo for now.

As a comparison, Allen is 6-5 versus New England with 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

The question becomes what can Weaver and Miami do differently against Allen and Buffalo?

He can do what KC did a few weeks ago, partly. They minimized his game just enough…didn’t stop him, but mitigated.

With who we’ll be missing early on, if we play them early, good luck…he can just dink and dunk all game, running here and there to keep em honest, and we’ll be screwed again. His OL is super-reliable, really helps.

Lots can happen before then however…we’ll see what the off-season brings for both teams.

The most basic answer nobody likes to admit is to get better personnel. Or healthier, at least.

There aren't many defense we haven't tried since he's been in the league and it's rare to have any sustained success against him.

He's a very good to great QB. Whether you blitz him or lay back in zones, he has the ability to beat you with arm, legs or mind.

Let me also add, they upgraded their play calling with Joe Brady...

Yes, I think they are much better with Joe Brady as well. Makes it even more challenging.

Why do you think New England has had so much success against Allen and Buffalo?

Might be a little too early for the big bad Josh Allen thread.

It’s okay! It’s safe to come outside.

He’s not here.
Perhaps it's one reason Miami picked Weaver, though?

Obviously, have to beat New England and the New York Jets, all takers. But Miami has done that the last several years. The Dolphins are clearly better than New England, except the Patriots always seem to give Allen and Buffalo trouble.

Solve that, and the Dolphins could finally get home field and have a fighting chance.

Well you have to win your division first which we completely f-ed up!

Then your conference.

Hopefully, he can help us get there.

The end….

We won’t know until the season starts.

Until then we have a lot way to go until the team faces Josh Allen again.

Hit the mother****** as hard as they can.

You make him pay for every yard he tries to run for.

Well the Pats still had Brady for Allens first 2 years and they beat them in that weird weather game a few years ago with Mac Jones, but other than that Josh Allen has had good success against them.

The Jets seem to give Allen the most trouble and of course the Pats had Bellichick who is good at scheming defense.

The Dolphins so far during Allen's tenure have not had good defensive personell or good schemes. Hopefully that changes.

It’s crazy to me to see these “running” Qbs that look more comfortable running the ball instead of passing it.

Defenders simply don’t punish runners anymore.

Guys like our own avoid hitting the Qbs now and would prefer to push them out of bounds.
Personally, I think once a quarterback leaves the pocket, and crosses the line of scrimmage, the defense should be able to hit him the way they do any other player.

I completely understand protecting quarterbacks in the pocket, but they are football players too.
