Miami Herald: McCoy to interview early this week (Some other info too)

hell no the option doesn't work in this league...that offense i saw mccoy run is a fad like the wildcat...the only thing that keeps that thing from going belly up already is a battering ram qb like tebow...you put an rg3 for instance in that o in the pros and you'd be peeling his body up from the turf...

mike mccoy as an nfl head coach off what we know....ugh

Depends on what type of offense Mike McCoy wants to run. This option was forced on him due Timmah's inability to hit the boardside of a barn at 30 paces.

Its bad when your gimmick offence saved your season, but yet your name is being mentioned for a HC job. Were screwed.

thats true...so take a look at how that o faired with orton under center...more the matt moore type...and i would tell you that mike mccoy is on the chopping block right now had it not been for tebow

and we want to be stoked about that for head coach??? sorry but i'm way smarter than that...i'm not gonna sit here and say he's an ABSOLUTE fail like so many of these retread should be coordinators for lifes names i've seen but you're gonna have to show me more before i give you the hc job for my pro football team i can tell ya that...

and that college and pop warner bull**** i saw the last half of the season isn't gonna do it

I read this article earlier today around 3:00 A.M., don't know when it was posted, but with all the speculation of Zimmer being Miami's top choice I would take this article with a grain of salt.

You know some fans on here love gimmicks. David Lee was praised for quite a while, now that he is gone he is villified. The sad thing is Daboll and mccoy finished lower ranked than Henning did last year

wonder why he's going to tampa bay

Probably because he is not stupid. Miami had all these guys as second tier choices behind Fisher and you cant guarantee that Ross is on board with Zimmer he may still be trying to find a name somehow

McCoy unfortunately has no chance of being hired due to the negative PR it would bring Ross. Even more unfortunate is that this wacky Tebow year is what has gotten McCoy's name out there as a HC candidate though it was the work he did before Tebow that I think deserves more credit.

If we are gonna hire people on basis of thier job as qb coach i would much prefer Clements

Yeah, but McCoy is almost 20 years younger. With youth comes the possibility of untapped potential.

you can get untapped potential at any age. No offense to you but its stupid to hire a coach because he is young.

If you say so. Youth viewed as a quality happens all the time in a hiring process. Generally, if you have two candidates with roughly equivalent accomplishments the edge goes to the one who did it in less time. You look at what great work Clements is doing now, but you realize he's almost 60 and wonder why he hasn't advanced further or gotten his shot before. It's a reasonable concern. Personally, I don't care. I believe a great leader's character to transcend age. I just want the best man for the job.

Was saying earlier if you are going to hire a guy based on his accomplishments which most of the ones named for Mccoy were as qb coach then Clements definately has better credentials coaching Kordell Stewart and Elvis Grbac to their only pro bowl. Coaching Tommy Maddox to his best season. Developed Aaron Rodgers and MAtt Flynn. Also was Rothlisbergers qb coach as when he had his great rookie season. McCoy not even close to these credentials.

I put a lot of weight on making Jake Delhomme and Kyle Orton quality NFL QBs during the time he was coaching them. Those are practically miracles. Clements might be considered the preeminent QB coach in this league and he's earned it. But McCoy's done good work and I'd love to see what he could do with a QB that wasn't absolute ****. Both QB coaches have gotten the best from bad QBs, but McCoy has never had the chance at better. The best prospects he's had are Tebow and Matt Moore. Give him a Rodgers or Big Ben and I think their careers would be relatively even. But I'm not going to dispute who has accomplished more in their role as QB coach because that's Clements. Not that I agree the difference is all that big.
