Miami –Indi: A contrast in developing young quaterbacks

You put Tannehill on that Colts team, they're a 6 win team at the most. Put Luck on this Phins team, 12 wins. We would've won the Baltimore, Buffalo and Tampa games.

I have to grudgingly agree with you.

8th in the league in scoring defense is top 25 percent...

No, this defense is not good.

I don't care about paper stats. When Miami needed a key stop the D couldn't come thru with it. When Miamis inept Offense finally scored, the d would let the other team seemingly drive down the field without a care in the world.

There is no stat for that.

The D made almost every offense we played look as inept as our offense, thats got to be worth something. I think our D scored more points in the Bengals game than our O did too. It can't be easy to play defense with such an inept offense, it must be a constant drain.

Gibson, Wallace and Keller were weapons added for Tannehill..lets not over look these guys

That's right, because Gibson was starting to play well ... before his early-season, season-ending injury. And, Keller was looking good ... before his preseason, season-ending injury. Wallace finished second only to Hartline who had a second-consecutive thousand yard season and Wallace nearly got there as well despite the myriad of drops and poor throws from Tannehill.

That's a LOT of free agent money spent and not a lot of addition. In the draft we selected only one horrendous G/T who couldn't even get a sniff on a team with arguably the worst OL in football. Come to think of it ... letting the top two TD scorers go (Bush and Fasano) might not have been the supposed upgrade it was billed as being. Particularly when you consider that the guys who actually played those positions this year--Miller and Clay--were backups to those guys last year and couldn't beat them out for the spot. Oh yeah, we also let our best OL go who played our worst position and we replaced him with a guy who was the worst LT in football until he was eventually/mercifully replaced ... of course the next week he mentally checked out and positioned his lawsuit against the Dolphins and the NFL ... coincidence I'm sure.

Yeah, I see your point. We clearly set Tannehill up to succeed. This situation is almost identical to Indy's.

I go to say there are so many false statements in here I can't even fathom playing Officer Correction.

Your team tanked and cheated another team out of Luck. Irsay got his staff to stick with Curtis Painter as QB. No effort to replace him. That directive came right from the top. You aholes just had Peyton Manning for over a dozen years. Super Bowl win in 2007.

You deserved to go rebuild for a while.

Shoulda coulda woulda.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

All these threads talking about how we should've been this or that. SMH.

The Chargers are proving you can throw picks and come back to win.

In fact I think most QBs this weekend threw one.

I don't give a **** about Luck.

Exactly. When the Colts "sucked for Luck" it merely emphasized that the Colts absolutely SUCK without a decent QB. When Peyton went down it was clear how bad they were and how much he compensated for bad drafting.

Lucky bastards though. They also have GOOD COACHING. Stud QB, stud coach = playoffs + hopes + dreams. Something we dearly miss.

they made no effort to replace Curtis Painter. They put the worst QB in the NFL out there, and just let it ride for the season, until the #1 pick was safely theirs. Then they finally put in Orlovsky, and got a few wins at the end of the season.

If the Colts weren't such a scumbag organization, they would have put Orlovsky in a lot sooner and would have won at least 5 games.

Look. I'm not going to be one of those guys that starts sing Tannehill's praises when he puts together strong games against teams like Pittsburgh and New England then bash him when he stinks it up against Buffalo and the Jets. The kid had a good season overall considering he wore the opposing team's D-Line on his back for most of it. With that being said, it's pretty obvious that Luck is the better qb right now. That deep ball to Hilton was beautiful. At this point in his career it's a pass that Tannehill hits maybe 3 out of 10 throws.

The Colts built around Peyton Manning in the late 90s/early 00s, creating a decade’s worth of success including a Super Bowl win. And now, Indianapolis has surrounded franchise QB Andrew Luck with young, talented players – just like they did with Peyton Manning.

2012 draft:
Ty Hilton, WR
Coby Fleener, TE
Dwayne Allen, TE

2013 draft:
OG Hugh Thornton

That’s not even including Wayne and Darrius Heyward-Bey, the latter of whom they added via free agency last offseason. Results two back to back playoff appearances, nice!
With the Colts’ acquisition of running back Trent Richardson, all the pieces on offense seem to be in place for the Indianapolis Colts. Just two years removed from the worst season by any team since the 2008 Lions, the Colts look like a team ready to rise to the top of the league.

Miami on the other hand, traded their best wide receiver away but failed to replace him. Drafted tackle that will never play a down for the team again followed by a TE who was inactive for 12 games in 2012....results, 2 straight years of missing playoffs.

you guys had more talent around your QB than Indy after wayne went down.

I hope the OP is being funny.

The Dolphins have much more talent on their roster.......... except of course at QB. Thats the difference in the teams.

The reason the Dolphins beat Indy is because the Dolphins are the better club. The difference is the dolphins lose to teams with less talent like the Bucs, because their QB is not good and inconsistent.

Hilton isnt as good as Wallace. Similar player. Both get open deep. Hilton catches deep TDs...... because his QB puts it on the money.
Heyward Bey sucks. Drop machine. Hartline is much better than Brazil or whoever the colts have.
Matthews is better than whoever else they have too.

Clay is a beast. He is better than any of the Colts TEs.

The Colts OL blows as well.

Donald Brown is probably slightly better than our RBs, but Richardson sucks.

The key difference in the teams, aside from QB play, is the Dolphins have a very good defense. The Colts defense is hot garbage. Thats why they gave up 44 points today.

Agree with everything you said except the fact that you said we have a very good defense. I believe we have a very average defensive unit.

Soo let me get this straight our front office said "Hey let's stink it up and get everyone fired and most of the team released so the guys they bring in to replace us can reap the benefits." Do you know how retarded you sound with that? Nobody is going to purposely suck at their job knowing they are going to get fired NO ONE. Polian got Collins and road him for a couple games then we realized how ****ty he was then went to painter who stunk just as bad so we got Orlovsky who tried his damnest to keep us from getting Luck. Watch any game from that season and you will see every person trying, just sucking, Please do us all a favor and know what the hell you're talking about before you say it cuz correcting on this notion really really gets old.
