miami needs running backs that actually break away from the pack!

Miller runs hard, but he needs a hole to run through. He will not run over anyone on the D-line, or make his own hole. I would keep him but look for a better replacement for Daniels. We need that bruising type of back and Daniels is inconsistent. Although that could be O-line related too .... we have so many problems to fix. If we could solidify the O-line, I would accept keeping our two backs. But the line would really have to improve.

IMO we dont have as many problems as you would think , The QB is set , the CBs if resigned is good ,defence is good , maybe a teak but pretty good , WRs set , and keller at TE should be back and hopefully healthy along with clay should be good , form my stand point the OL is the biggest problem , and if we can address that along with another LB we should be in pretty good shape , and maybe a bruising RB ....

Miller is an ok to good player but he should not be our starting runningback. Too many people overhyped him this year esp people talking about 1500 yards from him lol

Miller would be a good change of pace back when the defense gets tired. Miami needs a guy who can maje the 3rd and shorts so were not passing for short first downs all the time. Where's Lousaka Pollite?

Four out of the five O-line positions need addressing. To me, that is a lot of problems right there. Clay is the only TE that produces and I'm not sure if Keller can come back. Horrific knee injury ....

We field a line that was historically bad in pass protection and had an offensive coordinator who was fired at the end of the year with his biggest criticism was poor utilization of the run game, so it's time we stop blaming the backs alone for this poor effort from the organization as a whole.

I'd like better running backs, but it's no more of a need to me than better blockers, a better oc (done?), and other things this team needs to improve.

Jeremy Hill of LSU is what Miami needs, and a healthy dose of it.

Hill is such an impressive runner. Very smooth and shifty for his size, but he's explosive going north and south and physical - not going to arm tackle him, and it usually takes multiple defenders to get him on the ground. If I feel his character checks out, I think he's worth taking at #19.

miller is a backup running back, cut or trade J MART! need at least 4 players away to be elite again imo RT LG DT CB FS WR

I don't know. I'd like to see Lamar Miller behind a quality OL. I understand many feel he has no vision. However I'm not certain this a foregone conclusion as of yet. I don't think Philbin is attached to any of our current RB's, so a lot of change could be in the offering. But I'd like to see LM at least get a look during pre-season behind an improved OL.

Honestly there have been very few that do not require that hole to be a successful NFL caliber RB. I'm all for finding a RB but like that, but Wal-Mart doesn't exactly have them in stock.

If we don't run something resembling a Pro I, I don't think he's a very good fit.

There's nothing lol about projecting LM to be that caliber RB at the NFL level. However it turned out to be a lol situation because of the state of our OL. I mean the Dolphins OL.

I disagree. He's extremely quick for his size, and he has great vision. The two best backs out of the spread are probably L. McCoy and M. Lynch. Both have outstanding feet and cutback ability, but most people wouldn't consider them similar backs - Lynch physical, McCoy shifty. In terms of style, I think Hill is somewhere between McCoy and Lynch, and I think he'll be in that class of RB's.

It's possible. Lots of backs look powerful and fast in college. That's simply my theory.

I agree about many backs looking better because of inferior competition, but no one other than Hill has averaged 6.9 YPC in the SEC (with at least 200 carries). And judging by the way he outran the South Carolina secondary in 2012, I'd guess he'll run in the 4.4's.
