San Antonio Express-News says the Saints will use San Antonio as their base of operations indefinitely. They'll arrive on Friday and use local practice facilities. I expect they'll use Trinity University the most, as that was where the Houston Oilers held their training camp before moving to Tennessee and the facilities are outstanding for a small college. They may also use Alamo Stadium or other San Antonio ISD fields.

If Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge is available, the NFL would prefer to have the Saints play there. If not, their home games will also be in San Antonio. The greatest likelihood is the Sept. 18 game in San Antonio.

Wrong! Draining the water is just the beginning. Not only is New Orleans under water, there is no running water, no clean water, no electricity, etc, etc; and there still won't be once the water is pumped out. Don't be surprised if the Saints don't play in the superdome the entire season.

Right on...man this sucks for those people they were sleeping on the interstate lastnight. Do you think the saints will refund my $$$$$?

When the Chargers had to move our game to Tempe two years ago because of the wildfires, the fans got their money back.

My guess is that we're looking at a refund-then-reissue scenario for Saints tickets. But you can't put tickets for the new venue on sale until they figure out where that venue is and how long they're going to be there.
 
My heart absolutely goes out to all of those who have been touched by the hurricane.

Am I alone in wondering if we'll ever see NFL football in New Orleans again? The damage to the dome looks bad, and both the team and the league want a new stadium anyway. How could anybody justify that local expenditure in light of this?

I wonder if they will try to have one Saints game in LA. They could try to turn it into a big celebrity fundraiser for New Orleans...just a thought.

I believe the Saints have played their last game in New Orleans. The mayor said this morning that he doesn't see civilians being allowed back into the city for 12-16 weeks. Besides no football in New Orleans this season, I would expect that anybody with any level of financial resources whatsoever will look to permanently relocate elsewhere. If New Orleans was a marginal NFL market before, it will be completely non-viable after the exodus. What's left is going to look like the bad parts of Detroit and Washington, D.C.

Remember that Houston was a suburb of Galveston prior to the 1900 hurricane. This storm will be the death blow to New Orleans as a major population and commercial center.

The entire system the city was set up in was absolutely crazy to begin with. You may be right that NO may not recover and if it does it's not unlikely that this could happen all over again. They have been dodging mother nature for way too long. The issues are not as simple as pick up and rebuild like it is in many cities. There are too many negative issues associated with a coastal city that is below sea level, it's crazy.
