Miami @ NO 10/30/05

Theres no way by estimations Ive heard that the city would be ready to even consider the toughts of professional sports over the LIVES and WELFARE of its citizens.
i wouldnt be surprised if the Saints are moved to an temporary stadium all season.

Football somehow pales in concern at the moment to those in Louisiana.

San Antonio Express-News says the Saints will use San Antonio as their base of operations indefinitely. They'll arrive on Friday and use local practice facilities. I expect they'll use Trinity University the most, as that was where the Houston Oilers held their training camp before moving to Tennessee and the facilities are outstanding for a small college. They may also use Alamo Stadium or other San Antonio ISD fields.

If Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge is available, the NFL would prefer to have the Saints play there. If not, their home games will also be in San Antonio. The greatest likelihood is the Sept. 18 game in San Antonio.
Hopefully they play in Tiger stadium. I can drive there. No way I am going to Texas. Might as well drive to Miami for a game. I don't see why LSU stadium wouldn't be available. May have to do a little creative scheduling but most LSU games should fall on Saturday right??

Is Tiger stadium up to NFL standards? Remember, they're going to need concessions income as well as everything the NFL requires anywhere they play.

I considered getting Saints tickets and spending the week in NO. I'm glad I didn't.
My heart goes out to Bua's and Saban's families and friends as well as all of those who live in the La, Mi areas struck by the disaster.

i have family there. There is nothing wrong with asking that question. Like the other member said- this is a sports forum. If you want hurricane coverage go to another site. He was just askiong a question.

i seriously doubt ANY football is going to be played in New Orleans this year INCLUDING the Sugar Bowl. The Dome MAY be ready (thats even doubtful given that there is possibly 12 ft. of water underneath the dome) but the bridges/roads getting into the city are completely gone, broken etc. Besides there just no way to accomodate football with everything else they have going on...

I agree it's going to take months to recover after this. I actually think it wound up just as bad as if they were hit head on. Everybody was letting out sort of a sigh of relief when they thought they dodged a bullet and then bam when they were expecting it they get hit with the floods. It reminds me of the horror movies where the victim thinks they have escaped the killer and starts to breath easy and then the killer pops back up and kills them.

These poor people went to bed thinking that tomorrow was going to be a better day only to wake to a lake in their house, if they woke up at all.

As far as the question there is nothing wrong with him asking, life does go on and people need to know what is going to happen so they can adjust plans. (Cancel Flights, Cancel Hotels, Plan an alternate trip)

Doesn't mean that they don't care about the situation that exisits now.

Guys thanks for your support not trying to offend anyone. It sucks for the city and the people. I am rescheduling and going to the Fins/Falcons game the week after in Miami. I wish the city of N'Awlins all the best!

I already bought tickets

I live in Birmingham, AL and I am a HUGE fin FAN so when I found out they were playing in N.O. I immeditley purchased tickets and booked a hotel. Now I'm just waiting to hear where the game will be moved to.

I do understand that there are much more important events taken place down there than a football game, so like the rest of us my thoughts and prayers are w/them.

The Dome will be playable with no trouble. Now getting there is a whole different story. Interstate 10 is under water as are all other streets. No way that city is ready to host football any time soon. Their home opener is Sept. 18th I think. No way!!

NOTE: I have tickets as well!

WELL SORRY DUDE

How exactly am I wrong? Do you think they will be ready for football? The dome would have been ready easily if not for the continued rising water. couple holes in the roof would not have stopped anything. I said there was no way the city would be ready so I don't know WTF you are refering to??
