I agree with the OP's basic premise that Miami's draft record from 2002-2007 was horrendous. However, to use this as a justification to criticize the current FO is flawed. In plain and simple terms, they were not here. The blame goes squarely on the shoulders of Dave W./ Rick Spielman, Nick Saban, Randy Mueller/Cam Camerion. They were the guys that traded away multiple picks for Ricky Williams & multiple QB's that didn't pan out.
The current FO inherited this team with virtually ZERO young talent and had to start over from scratch and replace almost every player on the team. They have done it mostly through the draft and have hit on far more picks than they missed. Just because a guy does not make the pro bowl does not make him a bust. Teams are built with solid players that fill starting roles and back ups that can come in and not let you down. You may not like that we have only drafted 2 QB's but it was this FO that drafted them. At least they drafted them and didn't give those picks to another team for their garbage. I will admit that the Pat White pick was terrible but Henne is still here and is starting. Still to soon to call him a bust. People can whine and cry all they want about the trade not going through for Orton but I can respect Ireland for not repeating the same mistakes that the 3 previous front offices made in mortgaging this franchise's future for another stop gap QB out of desperation.
