Miami with $50+ mill in cap space in 2013 (next offseason)

Re-signing Wake, Long, Bush and Starks. Most of that cap will get eaten up.

Smith is easily replacable

We are deep on the d-line, resigning Starks isn't a must by any means

Hartline is a nice player but he better perform this year if he wants to get paid

Bush has stayed healthy 1 year in his life, if he has an injury filled year this year no sense keeping him around as he gets older

Aside from Long and Wake it would be no loss at all if any of those other guys left Miami. Not like we are breaking up a winning team here people!

Exactly, I'm not too sure why people are defending players who have yet to get us to the play offs let alone win a playoff game. As far as I'm concerned there really is no untouchable player. Long has been decent for sure, and I believe he'll resign. Hartline has to show something. Bush is playing for his career. Wake has to show me more. He's had one really productive year and one average one. Let's see some consistency.

Coaching I believe will make a huge difference in whether these players find their game and earn their money. Let's hope what Philbin and the boys are bringing are what the players can execute and buy into.

I wouldnt consider a year with the most pressures, sacks, and holdings drawn in the league an 'average' one... especially when he was the only pass rusher we had.

It's not like we're breaking up a winning team here. We don't need to sign all those guys back like other posters have said.

It all depends on the draft, if we draft Coples than there is no need to resign Starks. We'll start Coples, Soliai and Odrick in 2013. Smith may or may not resign, we'll see how he does this year but if Marshall plays well and Carroll continues to improve it will be easier to put money elsewhere.

Long and Wake got to be paid and I'm confident they will resign long term deals.

Hartline and Bush are repleacable especially if we draft 2 WR in this years draft as most people expect. Maybe we can keep Bush for another 2 year deal but RBs are easy to find in free agency + the fact that Thomas could breakout in the 1-cut system. Ireland will not and should not overpay Bush even though I like him.

Musts

Long should be extended for 5-6 years. Baring an bad injury of course

Wake should get a 3-4 year deal. I believe he's already 30-31yrs old as it is.

Maybes

Bush - I guess it all depends on how they use him vs his production vs any injury. I wouldnt give him more then a 3year contract though

Stay or Go

Hartline - Depends on how he produces in the WCO and how much he wants to get paid.

Starks & Smith - Can always be replaced by a 2012 or 2013 draft picks

Hopefully we can solify our O-line or at least 4/5 postions this year from the draft. We'll still need some QB, LB's a TE and a WR or two from the 2012/2013 draft/FA

Long, Wake, Hartline, Starks, Bush and Smith are all free agents. If they re-sign all of them, it will probably eat up most of that space.

Add Fasano,Clemons,Culver,Fields,Garner,Cook,McDaniels,Mastrud,Hicks,Devlin,
Garrard,Matt Moore,Slayton,Spitler,Trusnik,Wallace,Wade,

jake long is the next tony boselli, we dont need an "elite" LT, just let him walk and save the $

You get something for him before you let him walk
Get at least a draft pick. This team has no foresight by letting players
walk with nothing but a comp pick...No excuse not getting something for Langford...NONE

FA in 2013

QB: Moore, Garrard, Devlin
RB: Bush, Slaton
WR: Hartline, Wallace, Moore
TE: Fasano, Mastrud
OL: Long, Hicks, Cook, Garner, Murtha, Feinga
DL: Wake, Starks, McDaniel, Merling, Baker
LB: Trusnick, Westerman, Spitler
DB: Smith, Clemons, Culver
ST: Fields

No choice but to build through the draft.

Langford was an UFA defensive end that didn't really fit in the 4-3 mold, hopefully we'll get a compensatory pick for losing him.

This year will prolly blow for us, as we are rebuilding, they're will be growing pains, and it takes at least 2-3 years before we get all our peices in place for the new system. Next year we'll most likely have another top ten pick but I honestly believe we'll contend. This year we're just gonna have to take ou lumps, and I'm okay with that as long as we are taking steps forward.

I think I read somewhere that it's more in the 60-65 million range anyway.

Long will probably take what 10-12.
Bush I have no idea on, especially if he has another productive year. Probably 6mill cap hit.
Starks I dont see us re-signing, although if we did it would be similar to Soliai's deal.
Smith is a 50/50 decision, would probably get around the same as Starks aswell.
Hartline may have a breakout year, but if he continues similar production probably 2mil.

So if we re-sign all of them - we will have roughly 30mill in cap space.

Ben Volin said we have only $67 million in commitments for 2013. If the salary cap stays at $120 million for 2013, we will have about $50 million in cap space.
