Miami's DC Search

Whoever they hire will have their work cutout for him because we're losing at least 2 or 3 guys to free agency, if not more plus we have at least a couple of starters that won’t be ready for week one.

Our defense might have up to 6 or 7 new starters for week one(that's counting Chubb and Phillips not being ready for week one) so we need to give the new DC a chance instead of dumping on him early on if things are not going well.

One thing that Ive always wondered about when teams hire a position coach to be first time coordinator: do these guys have their own playbook? You know, given they never called plays before. Do they make their own playbook when they get hired? Do they just copy the playbook of whoever they’ve been working under? How does that all work?

Sounds like we should go ahead and dream up excuses for why the next DC “Staley” will suck

Good question. I have no idea how that works

Agree. Fans know it took a few games to get comfortable with VF's system. Same will be true with the next DC and, if he's a newbie, half a season to adjust to being 'that guy.'

Challenging but I don’t think any worse than any other team when they hire a new coordinator. That’s what they get paid to do and that’s what the off-season is for. Not worried.

How is that different from what we had the last half of this season? - LOL
Are you afraid our new DC will be unaware of this, prior to being hired?

I wonder what our FO's three most important questions during our DC interviews will be?

Possibilities I'd like them to be are:

1) What do you think of our current Defensive Players?

2) What are the biggest Defensive deficiencies you intend to deal with, if we bring you in, and how would you deal with them?

3) Who on our current Defensive coaching staff would you like to replace, and who would you like to be able to bring in as Defensive coaches.

Any other questions you think would be important to ask a perspective DC?
