MIAMI'S Draft From A Scouts Eyes

I'm not sure where the 4.51 info is coming from, but I've seen 4.58 at his pro-day (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/4/...zach-mettenberger-jarvis-landry-odell-beckham) which means he really isn't a burner. Being drafted in the second reflects that. If he was a true 4.5 guy, he'd have been taken in the 1st round given his other strengths. Seems to fit our system perfectly though, and I'm ecstatic to have him.

Not a 4.51 from what I've seen: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/4/...zach-mettenberger-jarvis-landry-odell-beckham
This is where I saw it

Landry is the interesting one to me. He could be a complete failure never able to get open against NFL caliber defenses or he could win offensive rookie of the year coming into the perfect situation for a man of his skills; injured receiving corps and Tannehill is gonna put up a boat load of yards and somebody has to be on the receiving end.

A guy that ran a mediocre 40 yet produced well in his first season is Keenan Allen for SD. Separation and good hands will have you being productive.

So far my buddy has been right on with his insight go back and check the past few years post.

HEwas right on

Hartline
Clay
reshard Jones
Egnew
Vernon

Dead wrong on
Martin
a WR from USC we had a few years back (can't remember his name)
Carrol - Well he felt that Carrol would be a player for us - he does and he is a decent corner but my buddy kind of made me believe he would be much better.

Jury still out on Lamar Miller- he says he won't be a player. I think he flashes. we will see but so far he looks to be right.

You should keep links of these draft reports in your signature. Good stuff.

You think he can't get open in the nfl? Hes a superb route runner and attacks the ball. I think he can get open

He does this every draft, I look forward to these reports. Also, he as been right a lot.

Sorry for the skepticism, but I just don't understand why a scout would be responsible for two players in the same area, but not another player within that same region.. I would love for the OP to answer the question. That's just not how it works. I know two scouting directors in the NFL. You have national scouts who cover the entire nation, and area scouts responsible for specific regions. The only thing that would make sense is if he was a national scout and one of his specific positions was WR.

We ****ing STOLE Landry. This kid is a baller. Physical, great hands, and did I mention Physical?

He is like a shorter version of Brandon Marshall. We NEEDED a kid like this.

No, he isn't Ted Ginn fast, but damn, he is fast enough. He doesn't fall down at first contact, jumps and fights for a ball in traffic, can get yards after the catch, and he is a damn fine team player that will run block like a tight end.

I CANT WAIT TO WATCH HIM PLAY FOR US!

to the OP....our first round pick is "James"....not "Jones"

How did nobody catch this by page 3?

We knew who he meant though:)

Scout. I will not expand on his role or his title with the Pat's. I choise not to give that info as it would be too easy to pin point who my buddy is. Maybe I am being to carful but being around the org and hearing the stories that my buddy tells me I would think that they (the Pats) would not be to happy with my buddy having these convo's with me then me going and posting it on the internmet.

Yes I know your skepticism. I know how the gamee works. My buddy was a scout for A LONG TIME. I knowthe process from being an in-houde scout - to a road / reg scout scouting every school in the area / national scouts scouting only players in the top end of the draft. Just to expand a little on how ans why a scout would have seen tape of one player and not another is via a cross check where one scout passes his evaluation to another for that scout to check and make an opinion of what he thinks. Can't speak for another org but the for the Pat's yes a scout may be a reg guy but he will have a focus on let say LB's and maybe Corners. durring the cross check he will see the tape and write up for a west reg scout of the corners that he wrote up. Agian, I think I may have said too much and you can write my post off as garbage for all I care. I just like sharing this info with guys that want to hear a vie from a NFL scout.

Some of us share your buddy's thoughts re Nolan Carroll. He simply improved year after year and competed 100% of the time. I don't get too attached to players but I was genuinely sad to see him depart. (Ireland would never have let him go). I still believe that he got a bad rap for a few bad games especially the Bills game where the referees killed him for penalties. He was much better than most appreciate. But he's now an Eagle and we move on.

To the OP, thank you very much for putting up insight that not many of us have access to. It is VERY much appreciated, even in a safe, limited capacity.
