I'll asume you know Ricky Williams personally. I don't really care about character in players but many coaches do and they would not accept guys like Ricky Williams back. Some of the actions of the other guys has had no effect on the field but Ricky being suspended twice and quiting has had a negative effect thus it is football related. The Minnesota Vikings cut ties with Koren Robinson and he's a very good football player after they gave him an opportunity to prove himself. He said all the right things was a pro bowler and then got another DUI and was released. Even Marvin Lewis has criticized the likes of Chris Henry and has put a muzzle on Chad Johnson. I do like to hear Johnson and those are his own words. It's not really a moral issue at all it is Saban having the most undependable player maybe in the league and still depending upon him.

Good point,,,,, Want to buy an R&R shirt???:cooldude:

don't call people out in a thread. PM him and discuss. he isn't wrong for having his opinion, he is entitled and if you disagree...be respectful.

So MikeO can call people out on the front page but others who disagree with what he is saying should PM him? I also would say that MileO was much less respectful in his commentary than Noodleman was in stating what he thought of the commentary.

you know i read this articale today and i will tell you something first off if we were winning football games this articale would have never been written second like everyone has pointed out how can u judge a person without even knowing them personally ricky williams was labeled a horrible person for quitting on this team 2 years ago to persue things outside of football oh yea he is a horrible person i guess that means tiki barber is a horrible person to since he is retiring then we got randy i don't condone what he did you never hiot a woman but the league should have suspended him then we got marcus vick who made a mistake in collage and cost him millions but since he has been down here he has stayed out of trouble people change u are in no postion to judge someone u say nick saban is a horrible coach because he brought some guys in well then i guess marvin lewis the bengals coach is the worst coach in the league cause there full of criminals but no one cares because there winning games talk about what these guys do on the feild instead of off the feild thats why we come to this website not to here you complain about what these guys do off the feild

Exactly!:shakeno:

I agree, this article is garbage. There is nothing newsworthy, inciteful, or meaningful in his completely biased rant about something he has no idea about. I'de like to pull out Mike Oliva's life and put it under a microscope like these players have to go through.

And its true, if we were winning this wouldnt be posted, its just a desperate rant trying to figure out a cop-out answer to why this team is performing poorly.

Also, the article fluctuates from talking about Saban and his mistakes to something about morality and "bad people", its pretty silly.

The problems that these players have are well documented, no need to write a commentary about it. Im pretty sure all of us on here knew and were ashamed about all the bad incidents mentioned, but Saban has always been known to take "problematic" players and work with them, often with success.

Say all you want about Ricky, but to say he's a bad person is stupid. Confused, awkward, indecisive, eccentric..sure, but not a bad person, the guy is the only athlete I have ever known that could literally care less about the spot light, money, or fame. The guy is humble and just wants to be happy, but because he smokED a little pot he's Satan's child. The fact is Saban had Ricky playing great, getting better and better. The guy said Ricky was a great guy who was extremely coachable, had great work etiquette, and was a role model for Ronnie, and Ricky said he believed in Saban's system, as for the suspension, it was bone-headed of Ricky to take anything that would be skeptical, but it wasnt pot.

Your definition of good/bad is very black and white and very undeducated when you dont know anything other than a few news reports on these players.

It's supposed to be an opinion based article. Personally, I think saying we have a roster filled with scumbags, sounds more like slander. Is it just me or does it seem ironic that an opinion/slander piece claiming the Dolphins have a roster filled with scumbags would be on the frontpage of a Dolphins fan website? Does anyone else think a comentary should have at least some standards? The article had plenty of negetivity without dragging the players into it and slandering them.

It is poilitcal when you take the high ground and tear into individuals that you know NOTHING about and call them out on their moral actions. How can you say that is not what he is doing?

My whole point is that if you want to tear into the fins then tear into them about there lack of discipline or dropped passes or mistakes....The fact that he tears into them about their character is completely out of line IN MY OPINION. That turns the article into something more than football. How can someone say the team is filled with BAD PEOPLE and SCUMBAGS? That is his opinion and thats fine but it has no place in article questioning a coaches ability to coach on a site that is supposed to be devoted to dolphins FOOTBALL!

I think you people need to lighten up. Holy crap write what you want and say what you want this is America ? Freedom of speech. When someone has an opinion and they get chastised for viewing it it becomes ridicules. As for calling people out. So what that is life people get called out every day.

How can you post that drivel on the main page by Michael Oliva? Seriously, is this a football site or a moral crusade. If he wants to make a commentary on football then do so.....the reality that he laces his commentary with right-wing, neo-conservative talk is reprehensible. Who the hell is he to criticize someone character or who they are? A piece of advice, if you want this to be a site about morals and who is a good person or bad then you should advertise it in advance. I enjoy this site in general but reading that guys article really makes me question what it is that is supposed to be discussed on this site. Before I start getting these blurbs about ricky this or traylor don't waste your time I have heard it all before. I find it interesting that he points out guys who have done bad things without mentioning guys like Ronnie Brown or Zach Thomas or Jason Taylor. OOOhh wait Taylor was getting divorced...that must mean he is a BAD person. The reality that Ricky Williams is being lambasted because he smoked weed is amusing. Hey Michael last time I checked being a pot head DOESN't make you a bad person. Along those lines, the fact that you can post that crap without knowing any of these people personally is amusing. Who the hell are you to make a judgement on somebody? As far as Williams goes, he is not a bad person as you seem to think, if you ever listened to him or those that have played with him you may know that but don't waste your time posting a commentary and clouding your drivel with the facts. Finheaven, I love this site and most of the fans that I have read from but that article goes too far.....stick to the football

The problem isn't the subject matter as much as it is Mike's grammar. He is hard to read. He writes on 6th or 7th grade level.

Besides, this is the guy who in the past has made such brilliant obervations as "DW has this team moving in the right direction" and "Robert Baker has the talent to be the offensive MVP". The guy has absolutely ZERO credibility as it comes to football. He is not to be taken seriously as a writer or a football commentator. Mike isn't a serious writer...hes a joke.

Exactly.

Fan sites are 90% opinion...

Mike once had the opinion (though he tried to disguise it as fact) that the coaching staff was getting tired of McMichael and that we could basically count on Donald Lee being the TE of the future... I believe it also had one of those "My sources tell me" statements attached to it... My point is, take a fan's opinion for what it is, opinion... No matter where it appears on a fan site it is still an opinion...

I personally didn't read the article because I never read what Mike has to say...

Brother, comment on the post if you have to but back off the criticism.
I may not like an article or post but I try not to bash the writer, just their opinion
