Michael Thomas named AFC Defensive player of the week...

I doubt he'll fade into obscurity, at least not the rest of this season. We'll need all hands on deck, IMO, the rest of the year, including the postseason that WE WILL BE IN!

Not only that, but I'd love to see Thomas having a chance to compete for Clemons' job next August too. Good tacklers and instinctive ball-hawkers come in handy at FS.

Let's not forget that M. Thomas is a special teams player.

I think his abilities and emotional play will really help on special teams quite a lot.

Never forget how important special teams can be in the playoffs.

It seems strange, but I'm not quite sure how to handle all this positive press....

Awesome. Does Ireland and the scouting department get credit, or is that frowned upon?

Props for the acorns. Corn fed boys and Linebackers? Not so much.

Amazing how a player who never played in an NFL game, plays big time. Great for kids to learn, you never know when your number will be called. Stay positive, "one-play-at-a-time".

The play he made on the RB out in the flat was awesome. Good instincts and football speed. He's a keeper.

Great job Ireland!

This is the play that jumped out at me. It is the type of play that gets the defense off the field on third down. I was very impressed with his tackling. He was beat a couple of time out there because he did not know what he was doing, but he tackled the receiver immediately with a solid tackle. I love the potential of any corner or of any safety that tackles well.

To be fair, Clemons deserves some credit for Thomas' success last week. He helped him with his limited knowledge of the defense and was always directing him what to do on a certain play and who to cover. Clemons has actually not been that big of a problem this year, like I thought he would be. He hasn't done anything great, but he hasn't been terrible.

That's true. He may seem like a half-step late to plays but he doesn't often give up a big one. He's covering ground and doing his job -- and he's had opportunity for multiple interceptions. If his ball skills were better he'd have some nice stats. Serviceable. Need him. Sign him and if someone beats him out, fine. If not, we're covered.

Tackled well and played the ball well -- both when he knocked the ball out of Edelman's hands and when he intercepted the pass to Collie.

#Dolphins DB Michael Thomas said he got a congrats via text from Seahawks CB @RSherman_25 today for winning AFC Def. Player of the Week.

Should start him over Clemons. I mean seriously, can it get worse than Chris Clemons back there? Always late to the play, tackles like crap, and has stone hands. All the reasons he was resigned by us after no one wanted him in free agency.

Clemons has 4 fewer tackles as Jones and 4 MORE pass defensed. Same number of INT. He has had as good or better a season as Jones.
