**** Michigan Football ****

Lot of negativity came out today in an article Michael Spath wrote (not really an article but a list of events) nothing ground breaking. Basically stated that Shea didn't work as hard as Dylan and Milton and the team didn't like that Harbaugh protected the QB,

Also basically came out that DJP and Black didn't put the work in and some of the vets on defense didn't put the work in either. That goes on both players and coaches. From what I hear, Harbaugh and staff thought the team got it preseason, but then when they saw they didn't they had to make changes midseason and a lot of things didn't work. So now the staff is trying to weed out players like they did Harbaugh's first year.

Honestly, not something you want to hear but again I think some of the assistants fed into that. I love Chris Partridge the recruiter, but I think he buys into his hype as a recruiter and didn't do a good job of getting his units prepared. I don't think it's a shock that Quinn Nordin started kicking better when Jay took over with the specialists.

Nothing I don't think isn't fixable. I think Bob Shoop hire (if true) helps a lot as he is a hardass. supposedly both openings are filled and will be announced soon

Joe Milton will be transferring. That means Harbaugh will have his EIGHTH QB in 7 years this fall.

-Jake Rudock
-Wilton Speight
-John O’Korn
-Brandon Peters
-Shea Patterson
-Dylan McCaffrey
-Joe Milton

Milton is in a lot of ways the poster boy for what was wrong with Michigan recruiting.

Not a big time recruit, not overly impressive in high school but had great tools that the staff focused on. Great kid and hard worker, but some fans and I believe the staff too, thought they were getting Cam Newton and Joe just wasn't that. No control of his arm (there were plenty of plays where guys were open and they just didn't get a chance) and not a confident runner.

At the same time Ben McDaniels just proved to be a worthless QB coach as Shea regressed bad under him and Milton looked awful.

I do like the staff changes though. All risky but the guys who left as I mentioned earlier just didn't want to put the work in on the recruiting trail. Already seeing a 180 in recruiting. Gotta see if they can coach.

For those that didn't watch Michigan, Don Brown just doubled down on blitzing. When Urbs killed us his final year Brown decided Ream was too slow and ended up playing what was essentially 4 DEs across the line more often than not, and he had no idea how to coach zone.

Devin Gardner is doing an MMQB segment on WTKA with Sam Webb. I gave it a listen and will say Devin is pretty good with his analysis. If you're interested look for the "Michigan Insider" wherever you get your podcasts.

BTW, that pass from JJ was so ridiculous. I like McNamera but he won't be starting next year.

So was Cade's throw and Bell's catch that was flagged for OPI. Best catch of the first week even though it didn't count.

Hard to believe they will actually do something this year after so many failures. Great start so far though....

Michigan ends up being an Ohio State fan this week rooting for them to beat MSU.

How is there not an Official Ohio St. thread - this board is full of Buckeyes. One of 'em needs to get on that...

Well, Michigan got what they wanted. Careful what you wish for.

I just hope they make it a good game for once.

I doubt they were rooting for that type of win over MSU. Michigan is better this year than they have been in recent years but Ohio State looks at least 2 TD‘s better than Michigan.

Ohio State shouldn't be able to torch Michigan's defense the same as they did Sparty's because they have a much better secondary and DL. I was surprised Sparty couldn't move the ball against the Buckeye defense. Had to have been a lack of preparation and having to come off the game plan so quickly. Corum should be back. I expect to see more of JJ has he opens the offense up. Should be an entertaining game.
