Mike Lombardi: Dolphins want Ryan Tannehill over Flynn

where's the damn thanks button???

I swear some of you guys around here have ego's bigger than Jeff Ireland.. All I was saying is how do these insiders get their info? I wonder if every organization has moles that feed the insiders info all day in return for money or something...

Were all fans of the same team...

Get over yourselves..

I can understand them feeling this way. But it fairly well guarantees Matt Moore will be the opening day starter, and more than likely our starter all season.
I don't thinks so. If you draft a guy 8th overall he better be starting sooner rather than later. I know people will point to Jake Locker with the Titans but we don't have Matt Hasselbeck on this team.

i am not a flynn fan as im sure people can tell, but i wouldnt buy so much into this yet, because how many inaccurate reports have we heard of late?

that being said, watching tannehill this year, he looks like he has the tools to be a solid pro qb, but i think he would be raw at first.

if we dont land peyton which is the obvious 1st choice, and if this report was accurate and our organization prefers tannehill over flynn, moore/tannehill maybe the best we can do.

but for all the people that are in love with flynn, i wouldnt get too upset with this yet, because this report can be refuted easily, and next thing we know, our team is high on flynn.

Unlike the media, I trust our coaches. I'm on board with them, either way, 100%.

I agree. If they draft Tannehill at #8, the guy better be able to come in right away and have the ability to start from day 1. Otherwise its a wasted pick. The Dolphins need impact players in the draft, not guys that will take a few years to develop.

I dunno if this report is true or merely another serving of the same speculative BS being upchucked so far throughout the Peyton Slow Waltz, but if it's accurate, what it tells me is that Sherman is a helluva lot more of a believer in the guy he knows best than is Philbin in his. And that's terrific since this is the advantage we have over some other teams in evaluating both these guys.

If we don't go the Flynn route and still end up Manningless, I'd hope everyone would apply some common sense and refrain from the gut reactionary Chicken Littling, Henny Pennying and Mary Contrarying over what an ineffective, awful regime and owner we have since clearly Joe Philbin did not want to hitch his HC career wagon to the QB with whom he is most familiar. End of story!

i hope the report is true, but have my doubts

Locker had at least been a multi-year starter. Yes, only one year in a pro system, but still, he'd played. Tannehill only started a year and a half in college and before that he wasn't even practicing or meeting with the quarterbacks. He was a receiver. The guy has massive talent and upside but "raw" doesn't even describe the guy. He's closer to "alive", culinarily speaking.

You take the guy where you have to take him. But after that you do the best thing for his development, which in my opinion is sit him for all or most of a year. You throw a guy out there who isn't ready you can do more harm than good. Look at Blaine Gabbert.

Sounds sane to me, especially the part in bold. The hard part for us as fans is that we don't have a game this Sunday, and we need something to fret over. :p

mike lombardi hasn't been right about anything miami related in probably 2 years...we'll find out here shortly how we feel about matt flynn...and if tannehill is the target better not sit still and let a seattle trump you for him...

walrus is right...odds on tannehill being ready week 1 to play in the nfl seem pretty low...i would say if thats the route pretty much a lock week 1 starter is matt moore...and maybe all of 2012...

and if that happens get ready for another top 15 pick in 2013...if moore starts the entire season

Sigh. Yet another poster who hears what he wants to hear. Lombardi never said that. All he said was that he thought Seattle or Cleveland would sign Flynn, and because of that, we would draft Tannehill. He never said the Dolphins liked or favored one over the other. He was speculating. Completely.

That's Miami's answer to all the media manipulation Condon is hitting us with.

I like it.
