Mike Lombardi: Dolphins want Ryan Tannehill over Flynn

mike lombardi hasn't been right about anything miami related in probably 2 years...we'll find out here shortly how we feel about matt flynn...and if tannehill is the target better not sit still and let a seattle trump you for him...

Good point. Maybe he's just assuming (or the people he's talking to are assuming) that we must like Tannehill more because we haven't been showing much interest in Flynn.

The weird part about the whole "we're not showing interest in Flynn" thing is that we're not really even allowed to talk to the guy. Talking to him right now would be tampering. But it goes to show how little the rules are respected in this day and age that when you don't tamper, that means you have no interest.

Here is the thing with going with Tannehill, will he be on the board at #8?

Say Manning goes to Denver, Arizona or Tennessee. Now lets assume that Matt Flynn goes to Seattle. Now, if you are the Browns do you go with the 3rd best quarterback prospect at #4, or do you HOPE that Tannehill falls to 22nd or grab another QB later in the draft?

Now, say Matt Flynn goes to Cleveland, then you have to keep an eye on Seattle making a move in front of Miami to get him. Whether he warrants a top 10 pick or not, Tannehill is likely going in the top 10. How safe is it to assume he will still be on the board at #8?

definitely...we're probably gonna end up sitting around waiting on manning and get strung out and in the meantime flynn will sign with a seattle or a cleveland...and yet people will interpret that as us not having interest in flynn when really its just ross deciding that until manning signs on the dotted line no matter how unlikely things look for us on that front we're gonna stand pat...

that just seems to be our luck of late...

How does he know all this? Do moles in every organization make these calls and drop dimes to Lombardi,Schefter, Mort ETC all day?? If true this is going to be a boring free agency as we await the arrival of tannehill at the draft....

I always wonder that too, all these new tidbits of info every 2 hours in the offseason. It's like they have spies everywhere in the NFL and all the phones are wire tapped.

walrus is right...odds on tannehill being ready week 1 to play in the nfl seem pretty low...i would say if thats the route pretty much a lock week 1 starter is matt moore...and maybe all of 2012...

and if that happens get ready for another top 15 pick in 2013...if moore starts the entire season

If Tannehill is the the way we go, you are absolutely right, Moore will open the season as starter. Only way Tannehill would see the field is if the team is struggling and need a quarterback change.

Manning and Flynn are the only two guys that would walk in and be the starter from day one.

as for targettting tannehill and sitting at #8 and not getting trumped you do that at your own risk...whoever doesn't get flynn b/t cleveland and seattle is gonna be looking at tannehill hard i don't know that cleveland would pull the trigger at #4 but they may but seattle at #12 is probably already making plans if they miss on flynn to get in front of us...

so this whole the target is tannehill right now stuff if thats really the case could blow up in our faces...we're playin a dangerous game of poker and there's already and we're only in march a ton of top 10 momentum with tannehill...
