Dan Pompei, Sporting Writes that Aaron Rodgers is still the favorite to be the pick of the 49ers.

I believe it. SF spent way too much time in one-on-one interviews and workouts with Rodgers, to be bluffing. I think that the article points out why Rodgers is at the top of SF's draft board. Chances are, SF and Rodgers will have a deal signed in the next couple of days.

boy, talk about conflicting reports. No one knows WTH is going on.

Yeah, I know what you mean... Next there's going to be a popular thread, "Ricky Williams DEFINITELY not coming back"... I'm not going to fall victims to any these rumors going around.

WHy do the bucs want Smith so bad? I thought they liked Simms

chucky likes bringing about 6 new QBs to camp every year.

golden boy has lost his touch. i have developed a deep rooted hatred for him and the bucs after living in tampa while i was in college

I hate this, some people say they'll pick Smith, some say Rodgers, it's so confusing. It's wierd that we are talking so much about a different team.

What the duck is going on? Is the Smith to 49ers rumor true, or debunked?
IMO the info that Nolan likes Aaron Rodgers is old. I agree with articles that say the 49ers like Smith, and have shifted the focus of trades from our pick to theirs. This s*cks. :fire:

Makes you sorta wish that we lost to the 49ers last season.

The Niners are playing a dangerous game. I think they're negotiating with Rodgers and his agent to get the contract demands down by acting like they're interested in Smith or that they will be able to trade down. If neither happens, they're going to be stuck having pissed the guy they're after off and picking one or the other QB without a contract in place.

true, but IMO I think this is an ego thing for SF. I think they want Rodgers and have all along, but now they see the interest Miami has all over their jocks when they say they want Smith. Because of this SF has a self esteem problem because they are #1 overall and no one wants to come out and play with them. Now they are going to pull an attention getting ploy. They have no want for Smith and with what they see they believe they can still get Rodgers possibly if they trade down a couple and grab more picks, because most want Smith or a RB or Edwards.

In short, I think SF feels they should be directing this draft. Since it is actually Miami and Saban doing it I think they are making up all this Smith BS in order to get the trade down/picking power on their side. They should just STFU and pick Rodgers.

Saban won't falter to say the least.
