Mike Wallace: I may get back there for kickoff returns

russell wison doesn't work the pocket like he owns it...andrew luck admittedly is that one rare exception in that regard from the get go...and deservedly he got drafted where he should

I think many fans' expectations were set too high. Wallace had a comparable year to his seasons in Pitt. I expect him to get better this year, but I don't think Wallace had a bad year by any means.

I think pocket presence can definitely be learned or improved upon. Guys like Manning and Brady are some of the most unathletic guys in the NFL, but they are successful because of their football intelligence. Some QBs like Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton can be successful by extending plays, breaking tackles, and moving out of the pockets and waiting for defenses to break down, but that's not really Tannehill's game. If Tannehill is going to improve his pocket awareness, it going to be done mentally through his understanding of the game. He's never going to be a tackle breaking, play extending QB.

that's right he's a pocket qb who happens to be athletic not the other way around...bottom line though is he wants to play in the pocket unless the playcall is designed for him not to be...ie rollouts bootlegs moving the pocket etc
 
Ive always advocated having more receiving options and less blockers in blitzing situations. That's how Brady and Manning call their audibles. I think that can help cover up blocking deficiencies. Lets hope Lazor doesn't play scared and is wiling to take some risks.
 
I don't understand why people don't like this. He wants to help the team be better and Thigpen was not as good like he was his first year. Sure he should focus on being a better WR to "go and get it" but im rooting for ya Wallace. Make the team better.
 
pick plays and rub routes...big part of what the patriots do to get guys off coverage...i'd like to see lazor implement some of that in the playbook...pats get away with a ton of stuff why not us

Jarvis Landry should help by providing a quick win option from the slot. If Lazor's offense looks anything like the Eagles offense last season, the quick passing game should limit this issue to some degree.

Russell Wilson doesn't deserve to be mention in the company of A.Luck. Not saying he's a bad QB, But let not kid ourselves the kid was fortunate to have landed in that situation.
 
if russell wilson was a pocket maestro he wouldn't have gotten sacked like 7 times against the rams on the same outside speed rush...he would have stepped up inside the pocket where he had plenty of space...and that team even had a legit downhill running game to at least keep edge rushers honest

luck may have been gotten once or twice by that outside speed rush but he would have adjusted and stepped up inside...lucks in a class all his own
 
The only way we see him return kicks, is if things go well (Well, actually things would need to go very well), and Miami makes it to the SB, and late in the 4th quarter, Miami is down by more then one score...Any other time would be too huge a risk Miami does not need.
 
Has someone ever proved that you`re actually more likely to get injured on a kick return than any other football play?

Speculating on what he would be somewhere else is fine enough, I guess, but you'll have nothing to back your opinions. So I'd rather discuss what Wilson has accomplished. He has posted back-to-back 100 QBR seasons; he has won playoffs games in each first two seasons (obviously there's a SB in there); he has averaged 8.3 YPA; he does have a TD/INT ratio of 52 to 19; he does have a 6.5 career TD%. He takes sacks, because he buys a lot of time with his feet, and because he played behind one of the worst pass-blocking O-lines in the NFL, but his sack rate is similar to Big Ben's over the first six years of his career - and Brady's, during his first season as a starter.

There's a simple reason that it's stupid to knock Russell Wilson. He won a SB playing as one of the top 2 or 3 most efficient QB's in the NFL last season, and (again) his O-line didn't protect him well, and he had mediocre WR's. When you win the SB playing great, you shouldn't have to make apologies for your performance. Just because a bunch of ignorant fans like to see people throw the ball more doesn't mean that it's the wise approach to winning football games. There is not, 'Yeah, great you won the SB while posting a 100 QBR, but do it with one hand tied behind your back.' He won at the highest level and played at a high level while doing it. Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill have never done either. I'm not saying they're incapable, but they haven't done it yet, and the way both teams are building, it might be a while for each.

Wilson is much more efficient than Brady was when he was winning SB's in NE. He's also better, more involved, and more efficient than Big Ben was during his early years.

Wallace, concentrate more on catching passes and executing blocks.

Your talents in the kickoff return department are unwanted and unnecessary.

BTW people doubting Russel Wilson's prominence as one of the premiere QB's today are foolish.

The kid is a successful game manager, versatile talent, and a superbowl champion.

You must remember the magic he displayed against the Fins during his rookie season. I knew he would be special after that and I am excited to have the opportunity to follow his career.
