Mike Wallace Post Game Interview: Calls out Refs

I don't know if we deserve PIs but he is right that we don't get them for whatever reason
2013 Miami
Clay 0/0
Hartline 0/0
Mathews 0/0
Wallace 1/38
Gibson 1/4

Compared to New England:
Amendola 1/5
Dobson 5/81
Thompkins 1/16
Boyce 2/39
Edelman 2/43
Gronkowski 2/39

I know, I know, there is a already a thread about Mike Wallace being the problem on this forum but this has another caveat.

First (I'll get it out of the way) Wallace said the ball Tannehill threw was perfect. He said he was definitely "held up" otherwise it was perfect. He says later that he was definitely grabbed by the shoulder pads. IMO if he feels this way in the game, then sell it to the ref.

What is funny though, a reporter asked if he thought a flag should have been thrown. Wallace responds by calling out the refs, with something to the point of " Yes, but not for us, we don't get those kind of calls, every else does but we don't"

Another reporter must then ask something like "What do you mean by that or can you elaborate more?"

Wallace then brings up the flag that was thrown on Will Davis when he tipped the ball and it was intercepted and says he definitely didn't think that was the correct call. He then says "As long as you don't play for us it might work out for you".

Interesting to see Fin Fans aren't the only one's who feel that way.

Two terrible calls against Will Davis in each of the preseason games to date. The hyper technical refereeing has been initiated by the Commissioner because he didn't like what Seattle did to win the Super Bowl with a dominant Defense. He thinks that the QBs need to be scoring more points for higher TV ratings. What Goodell is doing to "improve the game", is actually making it worse. Manning, Brady, Rodgers and Brees are the prime beneficiaries. The Blandino decisions from the NFL head office based on what is seen on TV are also scary. It's a different thing making a call from the video seen in New York office compared to the referee making his decision in front of the players and fans.

I smell corruption coming with that system. Reminds too much of Nascar, with their judgement calls during races. I bet it gets really bad around playoff hunt time.

Here is a site that shows all of the PI interference calls from last season. Interesting to see that the league average was 7.72 calls per team. The Patriots almost doubled that with 14 while the Fins were tied for second to last with 3.

That's easily explained by random variance, dude, come on.

*Hops on a plane to NFL headquarters, kidnaps Dean Blandino, and forces him to watch an endless loop of the Jimmy Wilson/Gronk penalty and that absurd PI call the Pats got against the Browns, Clockwork Orange Style, until he expires*

The rules are already on the books. The idea was that they are just going to call it 'every time that they see it' now. I'm all for fairness of officiating. If you're going to have the rules on the books, CALL THEM. Not just when you feel like it.

He was not only held on the shoulder pad, but the dude grabbed his pants, too. Watch the close-up slow-mo video posted in that other thread. The dude nearly pulls Wallace's pants down.

Mike Wallace is 100% right to complain. That was blatant pass interference.

Exactly. Wallace's hand towel ended up on the ground. The take away isn't primarily that the refs suck. IT's that on that play the deep ball execution was there. Just keep going there and it should pay off.

He is turning into such a bitch.

New England leading the league in PI's dismissed, PI's at home and third in PI yardage gained. Baltimore was first in yardage gained. I distinctly remember two completely phantom calls against us against both Baltimore and NE, and the weird thing is in both of them the flag came from an official not designated to that WR, and away from the play. Also Baltimore got a phantom one against the Vikings that allowed the game to continue and keep them in the playoff race. I also remember 1 of the 2 called against us; Wallace was tackled as he was about to break free for the winning score in OT game against Cincy. The most blatant PI you'll ever see.

Anyone who doesn't think that Goodell and the league aren't as venal and corrupt as an old Tammany Hall politician, then I've got a shiny bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you cheap. Goodell is Vince MacMahon on a huger stage but without quite as much control over the outcomes.

Yes its sickening. You can't even celebrate a big sack on third down anymore. Its also pretty easy to predict how a devious offensive coordinator will be able to exploit this, just get a receiver to purposely run into the defender. I know thats probably supposed to be offensive interference but thats not how its being called.

:bobdole: Are we really this whiny?!?

Bitching about calls in meaningless preseason games, and what might, potentially happen in the future is about as natural as an oral bowel movement.

I gurantee we will get bogus calls against NE..its already happened before and cost many games ....so yes i"ll whine

I love that he called out the refs and even mentioned Davis' play. At least he has evidence, I've got no problem with him saying this truthfully

What it could be is crooked refs betting on games. And if you're going to do that it behooves you to bet on the favorite, the favorite will probably win anyway without your help and if you do have to give them a helping hand it won't be so easy to pick up on.
