Mike Wallace

They need to use Wallace and his strengths better than what they have so far. All he does is the occasional screen, comeback, or 9 route almost exclusively from the right side. I mean, mix him up, motion him, use him in the slot, line him up in the backfield like Randall Cobb and run a wheel route. We've seen NONE of that.

This coaching staff is way to stubborn for their own good

A lot of you guys are saying that a $60 million #1 WR should do this and that.

But fact is, Mike Wallace has always been a body catcher.

Throwing $60 million at someone won't turn them into Calvin Johnson.

The Offensive staff for Miami took Wallace out of the game. He lined up out wide right every play the entire game. Never moved. No motion. Never put him in the slot, never put him in a bunch formation. i never saw him run any type of crossing route to make Revis chase him across the field. No combo/rub routes to get him the ball in any space. Of course, this is the same staff that wasnt very creative in how we used Reggie Bush either so im not suprised i guess.

I posted that in another Mike Wallace thread last night but its long gone now. This is the biggest reason for lack of production in my opinion. You can even watch a lions game with Calvin Johnson and see them move him around in order to get him the ball and he is the best in the game who would probably still catch a ton of balls lining up on just one side the whole game

Will people please stop with the $60 million number. All he is guaranteed is $27 million. At this rate he won't see a dime more than that.

I wish I was guaranteed 27 million dollars to half ass my job too. Hell, give me one percent of that and I'd put on a better effort than Mike Wallace has this year!

I feel I need to defend Wallace here...yes he's overpaid, but everyone is in free agency & he hit the market at a perfect time for him. We all knew what we were getting, a homerun threat & not a Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitz or Marshall receiver. As someone said $60 million isn't going to change Wallace into that type of receiver.

The main issue is our coaches simply don't utilize his strengths. You can bet Peyton & the Saints would be licking their lips if they had Wallace, why because they design plays to create mismatches. I've simply not seen any of that from our coaches in two years, which is also why Bush struggled & almost seemed to personally carry the rock without any coaches help.

Wallace is undeniably low on confidence and he seems to be a confidence player, but then again this whole team seems to be currently low on confidence & picking on Wallace is the easy way out - the self destruction of this team is much deeper.

This man speaks truth.

I feel the same way about Ryan Tannehill and Lamar Miller. I think Mike Sherman is doing a terrible job of utilizing their talents. QB who throws really well on the run, and awful pass protection? Why call play action bootlegs? Let's line up in the shotgun and run all verticals!

Mike Wallace was used more creatively against Indy and guess what, he had a great game.

Actually, comparing Wallaces time in Miami to any one year of Ginns time in Miami and it could be said that Wallace is worse than Ginn. Both have no hands at all though
hes worse than ted ginn in my opinion

I didnt like jettisoning Marshall last year and I dont like it now. He has been the best Dolphins WR over the past 10 years. As far as his personality disorder goes, he seems to be doing fine on Chicago, Ireland/Philbin.

Why run Lamar Miller behind Mike Pouncey or throw him a quick pass in the flat when we can run a ****ing jet sweep with Daniel Thomas?

I'd put Mathews on the outside for a few weeks and put Wallace in the slot, and sneak Wallace on the outside on a few plays.Coaches dont have the stones to try it....

Agreed, would be nice to see play calling to the strength of the talent. I am reluctant to completely right Wallace off, however I am struggling to think of a less physical football player.

we payed $60 million dollars for a poor mans ted ginn...unbelievable

this entire roster is a poor man's version of an nfl team loaded with day 2 draft picks and undrafted free agents. hell even the veteran free agents brought in were originally day 2/udfa guys.

Mike Sherman has no ingenuity and he gets outcoached all the time. He can't make any adjustments and just sticks with the same tired crap week in and week out. He needs to retire.
