Agreed, would be nice to see play calling to the strength of the talent. I am reluctant to completely right Wallace off, however I am struggling to think of a less physical football player.
Mike Wallace demonstrated the ability in Pittsburgh to go up and be physical to get the football. I'm not saying he is great on contested catches, but he's shown he can do it.
So yeah, I don't know what the hell is going on, but our offense is a hot mess and I think scapegoating Mike Wallace, the QB, or even the OL is too simplistic. Pass protection was acceptable for most of Monday night's game. Tannehill played pretty well overall, IMO. Rishard Matthews was great. It seems like if it's not one thing it's another. Charles Clay dropping passes left and right, Mike Wallace drops one, Tannehill misses a pass. It's like there is just no damn margin for error, and this is a team that is error prone across the board.
Other people have noticed this but it really is puzzling to me how we do such a crummy job of getting guys into space and designing plays that will spring someone open. It's like the entire offense is designed for Ryan Tannehill to squeeze a football through a thimble on every damn dropback.
