Mock Off-Season (realistic)

I don't think this is very realistic offseason either. This is a huge splash in free agency and I doubt Miami makes a huge splash outside of 1 or 2 players. I also don't think Moreno would be on Miami's radar, considering he's had only one good season, and his good season happened when teams were focused on defending the pass.

I could also see Miami making 2 defensive tackle moves, but not as big of a splash there either. I would think Tony McDaniel would be back on Miami's radar since he has familiarity with the team.

I think Hickey will operate a little differently than Ireland, making moves that are smarter in terms of longevity than just making it rain in Benjamins.

What happened to Olivier Vernon?

He led the team in sacks, but he had a lot of his sacks from good coverage or the pocket just breaking down. He was far from a wrecker like Wake. I hope Jordan can start this year.

How so? 33 Million in Cap Space after cutting Dmitri Patterson. And can get out of the terrible contracts of the 2013 off-season next off-season (Wallace, Ellerbe, Wheeler, Hartline)
8 FA's, 3 of which will cost a pretty penny that's why. Miami just tried that route last year. Something tells me they're not going to hit replay on that. Maybe 1 high end FA and a bunch of "Gibson" types is more likely

That is practically spot on for up what I had written up for my mock..free agency, draft picks and everything. And it is completely realistic. Just gonna be hard to manage once Tannehills contract is up.

There are 31 other teams competing for free agents and some with a lot more cap room than us. Cherry picking free agents out of a big list and calling it realistic only exists in the world of Madden.

Would be nice but hardly realistic. Very unrealistic actually, to get top FA at so many positions where there's a bidding war

I think there is nothing wrong with making big signings in free agency. It's when you overvalue a player and overpay him is where you get into trouble. See: Mike Wallace, Dannell Ellerbe, Philip Wheeler, Brian Hartline, etc. There's nothing wrong with signing big time players like Monroe or Byrd to big deals. I think most FH posters knew the 4 aforementioned players were extremely overpaid.

If this were to happen the Depth Chart looks really solid. But I do think Miami signs Monroe/Albert/Veldheer and a guard (maybe 2) and takes Zack Martin #19 and plays him at RT initially.

I agree with your philosophy obviously. But it's not realistic cause a team doesn't simply snatch up this many high profile FA's in a single offseason. I think you can look for 2 guys in that $7-9 range at most, then probably a couple in that $4-6. Once you get into the lower contracts it's fair game.

I think Monroe, Byrd, and Joseph are high profile FA's. The others are good-above average players.

There is going to be a ton of overpaying this year because of the salary cap being $133M. More teams can spend now and some have less needs than the Dolphins. A realistic offseason gets us 1 top tier FA, and a few more fill ins. We, like every other team will be overpaying to get one of the top guys.
