Impressive day for Ryan Tannehill, who threw two touchdowns to Mike Wallace, a dart in the middle of the end zone to Brian Hartline for a touchdown and another great throw that should have been a touchdown to Charles Clay (who dropped it). He threw one interception (to Jimmy Wilson) but also wisely threw the ball away when nothing was there.

### Wallace, as we wrote a couple times last week, is in clearly better spirits. One reason is that he loves Bill Lazor’s offense and the flexibility it gives him to change where he lines up.
Of the move of Koa Misi to middle linebacker, defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said: “I can’t commit today to saying it’s a done deal but I like what I’m seeing. Koa has such a physical presence. When Koa hits you, you stay hit for a while. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve used Koa an an example of how you compete each and every snap on defense. Last year, I felt I didn’t keep him in the game as often as I could have. We’ve got to get him more involved. He’s a big man, strong, explosive. He takes a tremendous amount of pride in doing little things the right away. It’s a work in progress so far.”
Coyle raved about the two new starters in the secondary: safety Delmas and cornerback Cortland Finnegan: “Two great additions, lot of enthusiasm, smart, instinctive guys. They’ve been a pleasure to coach. They will bring an energy, toughness, fierce competitiveness. They are both vocal guys. Louis goes 100 miles an hour with everything he’s doing. Sees formations quickly. Sometimes you’ve got to reign him back in a little bit. He’s never slowing down.”
Will Davis was beaten for a touchdown by Armon Binns today, but Coyle said he made an interception Friday “that was out of this world. SportsCenter [worthy]. Every day we’re seeing significant improvement from Will and Jamar [Taylor]. You see confidence growing every day.”

Good to hear some of those things

Gotta love this. When Koa hits you...you stay hit for a while.

If Misi can man the middle effectively, he just might earn "The Missile" some try to nickname him his rookie year.

There is a relitively new stat called stops. This is where a defender makles a solo play, which constitutes a failure by the O. Misi was #20 with 23 but, played fewer snaps than most above him, and he does not miss many tackles. I really hope this works out.

Songs like Bill Lazor's up tempo offense is clicking pretty nicely. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but watching the Phin's offense since Dan retired, has been like watching paint dry.

I rarely hear teams are looking horrible this time of year. I hope things are pointing up but this is not flag football.

I agree about the watching paint dry. Dan Marino spoiled us with greatness. He retired with every meaningful passing record there was. He did it with a fire in the belly, take charge leadership we fans love to see. He never quit and was a miraculous come back artist (most 4th quarter comebacks were one of his records). He also possessed a cannon of an arm and the quickest release in the history of the NFL.

That's a tough act to follow.

But watching the NFL keep tweaking the rules in favor of passing offenses, it's hard not to think about what Rod Woodson said like 10 years ago ... something like ... "if Dan Marino played today he'd throw for 10,000 yards." I can't remember the exact quote, but I'm sure someone does.

Watching Rodgers, Peyton, Brady and Brees, it really makes me wish Marino were in his prime today. Medicine has advanced as well, and his Achilles wouldn't have been so problematic.

But Tannehill has a lot of talent. I believe in Lazor's offense. If Tannehill is as smart as we all think, and our offense stays healthy, we should see a breakthrough year.

It will not make any one forget Dan Marino I'm sure, but it should be a lot more fun than watching paint dry.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

Preseason is a time to learn the offense and work on your timing.

It's more important that the QB and WR are reading the defense and on the same page with routes than it does who is starting.

This is completely true. A big chunk of what we hear can just be ignored as wishful thinking because they are just in underwear as Jason Taylor used to say. But, it's interesting to hear what the new coaches are installing and see if any of the young players are flashing at all. Whether they keep it up will be a different question.

I can feel already that something is different because Bill Lazor is here.

I'm still skeptical of Lazor but after watching cutups of the UVa offense while he was there, I can't imagine there's any way he will be worse than Mike Sherman.

You didn't like 2 Dives and a bad out pattern or fistpumps for FG's? What is wrong w/ you?

This time of year we hear about how Roberto Wallace will be a big part of the team or how Lamar miller will rush for 1500 yards and lets not forget Mike Wallace obliterating the td reception record and that's just being modest.
