Mondays game very important...do you agree?

I think we need to get started off on the right foot. Maybe have our 1st team offense play well, though they'll get like 10 snaps. But as long as our 2nd and 3rd string players perform decent, it should be a good day.

Last year is gone though. Every year brings new expectations. That's why every team in the NFL is giddy during Training Camp.

It's important because it's nationally televised! :domodance

Hey guys...wanted your thoughts on this. I think Monday's preseason game is very important to us. One..I think its important for us to put last season behind us. A game filled with mistakes..and turnovers...might prolong last seasons hangover.

Do you think Saban wants to make a statement? Will we see a much different D? Will we see the blitz package unleashed?

Im looking for a very...organized...careful game plan. I think Saban will look to work on technique. And if their are alot of mistakes....you could see alot more than one guy crying. Id be afraid to ask Saban questions after the game if I were a reporter.
Are you kidding?? Have you ever seen this board after a loss??

If we win it's no big deal, just a preaseason game, nice that we won but, let's move on...

If we lose....WE'RE GOING 0-16!!! :fire: :fire: AJ/GUS SUCKS!!! FIRE SABAN!!! GET RID OF MUELLER!!! WE ARE TERRIBLE!! :yell: :yell: :fire: :fire:

You might even hear a... BRING BACK DAVE!!!....but we'd have to get beat real bad for that one to come out....

No it's not important at all. Finheaven is going to overreact either way like fans do every seaon but the first of 5 pre season games means the least of all. In fact pre season doesn't mean crap. The 3rd game means a just a wee bit but that's all. We are all excited aboutr football but come Tuesday let's try not to throw in the towel for the season or make reservations for Detroit. Please, I'm begging you guys.

Preseason is about how our players perform (especially our young guys. And like always, it's about team chemistry and how we co-exist as a team, especially with a lot of new players and new Coaching staff. And also one of the biggest things that comes to mind, learning from your mistakes EARLY rather than later. Preseason is not about wins or losses. It's about preparation, player evaluation, and team co-existence. And as we all know we have 5 preseason games this year instead of 4. Yes, that's a positve and yes that's a negative. The only negative that comes to mind though is injuries, if we can avoid major injuries we shall be fine and the extra game will only benefit our players and our Coaching staff. I'm hoping for the best. I'd rather our team look good out there rather than want to win the game. In conclusion, it's not important whether we win or lose the game, it's important to evaluate how our players (especially youngsters and new acquisitions) perform. I'll definitely be watching the whole game and every single one of our preseason games.

In one word "NO" ................. It's the first preseason game for cryin' out loud. Anyone getting hysterical over it should seek medical attention immediately.

not that important. I'll probably only watch half the game. Second half is going to have the practice squad on the field.

important for rookies...and undrafted people....as our starters will run into the first huddle....call a time-out...and be replaced be backups....at least they will have the huddle thing down.
that's funny! or they line up feeley and ferrote together in a double QB set, then call time out!

What will se is a VERY VANILLA defense and a VERY VANILLA offense. He's evaluating now and will keep things simple. We'll do and see a few things we are not used to seeing, but for the most part very plain and simple. I do expect a much more disciplined team though.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

I don't think game planning really gets installed until the 3rd game.

Exactly. Pre-season is pre-season and don't count for nothing on the books. It is used to look at various players to see how they do against someone other than their own at practice, to give them time to get used to hitting, et al. And of course you don't show anything to a pre-season team you are going to play during the regular season. Most coaches would like to dwindle it dow to 2 or 3 games (so I have read) to eliminate the possibility of an injury.:goof:

Dude, are u nuts?

Game plan, WHAT GAME PLAN? The coaches will run the basic plays on both sides of the ball that they've been teaching from mini camp 1. Game planning means that you implement specific schemes and plays designed to take advantage of an opponents perceived weakness.

THAT WON'T HAPPEN UNTIL PRE-SEASON GAME 4. Until then, it's vanilla on offense (although Linehan's vanilla is a lot more intersting than say, Kippy Brown's) and the basic package on defense which includes the 40 or so blitzes that are considered the base package.

Every Football fan should know that no coach game plans his first pre-season game oe even his second! Just not done.
