Monroe unlikely to return to Ravens, wants $10 million a year

His agent basically knows he is lead dog in LT for this years FA and will ask as much as possible.

How good is this guy? Didtnt he jags let him go?

Jags traded him to the Ravens mid season because they basically knew he wouldn't be back after his contract expired.

no State INcome TAx should help but with the cap so high this year, some team that really wants him may offer $11-12M

and the Jags also drafted his replacement in Luke Joeckel with the #1 pick.

IMO 10 won't do it. It's a perfect storm climate this year to be a skilled LT!

Cutting to the chase, we can all (correctly) state that it's too much but going into the draft with the 19th pick and no dependable LT already signed does Tannehill the same disservice and possible career detriment that counting on "Mommy's Little Helper" to protect his blindside did last season. Instead of standing on principle, we need to pay what the market demands in this case whether it's he, Collins, the kid in Oakland or someone else.

Got to come out of free agency with a solid LT even if we overpay. Let Dawn do her thing and structure the deal in our favor.
I'd be looking for a guard or two as well.

I'd be happy with 2 serviceable OL guys who command 5 mil a year each then pouring a bunch of money into one guy.

Since the cap will go up in the next few years I'd probably give him the 10 but not more. He's good but he's not Anthony Munoz.....either take the 10 or look to the other 2 or 3 guys that will be out there. You need to leave a few mill for the rookies plus we'll need to get at least 1 guard/or another OT plus at least 1 DT and posibly a safety.

Ozzy rules!!

The top 5 highest paid left tackles are paid $10million or more per year. That's probably right where he'll get paid. The only reason jake Long went for under $9 million is that he's been in decline and has struggled with injuries. Sounds like the magic $10 million will be the cost to play. IMHO you probably can get the left tackle from Oakland for close to $8 million per. How much better is Monroe than Veldheer if at all?

Thats what our F.O needs to find out , since the salary cap is going up next year , they need to find out , how much better Monroe is than the LT out of oakland and Kansas City , and if its worth giving the 2 mil more or if we would be better off taking someone else , thats what the F.O. gets paid for ,to make these decesions , and now its time for them to earn there Money , and make the right one ....

6 yr 57 mil. Load it to where the contract is backloaded. No guarantee money last 2 years. That would equal a 4 yr 30 mil deal. Chump change. 1st yr 9 mil. Yrs 2-4: 7. Yr 5 12.5. yr 6 14.5.

would you play with no bonus' for two years??? really?

We could probably strike that deal if his agent is Forrest Gump.

Whatever, It is what it is. If the guy is an upgrade over what we've had at the position? Do what you need to do Dolphins. No more screwing around! Trying to be cute....We simply can't afford not too.
