Moore tells the Miami Herald he is auditioning for his next team

I really like Moore as a long term backup QB, but he probably still sees himself as a starter. Matt is probably one of Jeff Ireland's better FA recruits.

Start R.Tannehill,period.

M.Moore might get us 1 or 2 more wins this year but delays RT's learning curve. Let RT start and learn on the job. Your setting yourself up for failure if you really believe we're a playoff contender.

The bottom line is M.Moore doesn't really make us better and we have more to gain long term with RT starting.

this comps over...unless he gets hurt dollars to donuts ryan tannehills the week 1 starter...dollars to donuts

No matter how you view Matt Moore as a player, i don't understand how anyone can try to attack his character for this statement. He is absolutely right, he is auditioning for a new job, and that hasn't been any different since we took Ryan at number 8 overall.

Playing in the NFL is a JOB..... and the writing has been on the wall for a long time that this season was going to be an audition to the rest of the league whether he was starting, keeping the seat warm for ryan, or sitting behind him.

I'd much rather a player be honest, and have his head on his shoulders than give the politically correct BS nonsense answer.

Moore went 6-3 as a starter, then sat back and watched as they paraded Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Alex Smith and who-knows who else through the office, then signed a washed-up wannabe and drafted a QB at #8.

And some posters in here thought they did soprano wrong with the Harbaugh thing. Moore got treated 10X worse.

Yet in all that Moore never complained a bit. Not once.

Put a chump like garrbage in Moore's shoes and it would have been thermonuclear. He would have been running off whining and crying to the media and screaming bias and "Unfair!!!" on every street corner in Dade/Broward/PB.

The man is not complaining NOW. He is just stating the facts. He knows he can't win this job long-term.

He wants a team of his OWN. That is a MAN, and a professional. I am a fan of Matt Moore.

i'm fine with the way moore has handled this...like a pro...had to see the writing on the wall...but i can tell ya he may want a team of his own...but he's got an uphill climb ever getting one where someone believes in him to the point that they don't view him as a stop gap or solid depth qb...as long as matt moore's in the league given his shortcomings as a player ie inconsistent accuracy lack of ball security in the pocket and a nitch for taking bad momentum changing sacks or turnovers in the clutch he's gonna be competing for a job...no ones ever gonna give him anything...he's labeled...his next contract money will reflect it as well...guaranteed

Moore's comments are reality and fine by me. I hope Tannehil is the real deal, but I have no issue with Moore getting a chance after last year.

Don't bet on it Hoops. I still think that they'd prefer to ease Tannehill in a bit later.

no way...only way this things still open is if tanny doesn't start against carolina...which is the perfect scenario for him to start...a low level 1's defense...tannys banging too many 20 yard and chunk yardage plays and converting 3rd downs and heck 3rd and longs even where i don't see how they don't choose the upside play...add in the ball security the move athlete the things that you can do in your playbook at a very high level on the move with him and this puppies history...unless he craps the bed against carolina...and i'd say odds on that are slim to none

if moore starts week 1 for anything other than injury i'll be floored...

Agree...Tannehill should start this week and as long as he doesn't drop an egg he's going to start week 1. Philibin said he wants the best player on the field...thats Ryan Tannehill

Slow the horses. I am as big of a Tannehill fan as anyone but this is a bit too much. Matt Moore should be the starting QB, if Tannehill outperforms him 2 preseason games in a row then we will talk about him starting week 3 preseason. If he starts this week you can't put Matt Moore back in as QB, there would be too much indecision.

Not true at all .... there were games when Moore and the offense spotted the defense leads and visa versa. Each contributed. Hence my comments about crushing lesser competition, which we never used to do. In the past we always played down to them, getting by on FG's. Against tougher competition (i.e. NE, Dallas, Philly) they both the offense and the defense played 1 half of a ball game. In NE, the offense spotted the defense a 17-0 first half lead .... neither side closing the game out in the second half. In Dallas, the defense definitely spotted the offense multiple turnovers, but the offense only came away with FG's. In the second half, both struggled and we had a lead late in the 4th until the defense had 3-4 opportunities to sack Romo on late downs and came away with squat. Philly, we were dominated thoroughly on both sides.

When Henne was behind the helm - we lost when Moore was behind the helm we lost three straight essentially taking us out of the WC - while not mathematically we were on the cusp - Moore was playing with House Money and like Henne was given the chance will not match guys in the upper echelon because he simply cannot match with Brady unless the D and STs kick some woop ass which we so often fail to do - can you not shed some sentiment

My impression just from watching hard knocks is that Moore is right, he's not really in the running for the starting QB job.

It is actually a good comment on his part. He states the truth, compliments Ryan T. and makes him feel like the future, positions himself as an underdog of sorts, illustrates to the staff he will work hard and support Ryan. He is also fully aware they can choose to keep him. Good for you Moore. What bothers me more is people calling Ryan Tannehill, Tranny, Tanney or whatever the word is. What is with nicknames before you even prove yourself let alone after?

The Green Bay Packers have the worst backup quarterback situation in the entire league. Graham Harrell isn't even close to being a rosterable quarterback, much less a backup.
