I really like Moore as a long term backup QB, but he probably still sees himself as a starter. Matt is probably one of Jeff Ireland's better FA recruits.
Moore went 6-3 as a starter, then sat back and watched as they paraded Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Alex Smith and who-knows who else through the office, then signed a washed-up wannabe and drafted a QB at #8.
And some posters in here thought they did soprano wrong with the Harbaugh thing. Moore got treated 10X worse.
Yet in all that Moore never complained a bit. Not once.
Put a chump like garrbage in Moore's shoes and it would have been thermonuclear. He would have been running off whining and crying to the media and screaming bias and "Unfair!!!" on every street corner in Dade/Broward/PB.
The man is not complaining NOW. He is just stating the facts. He knows he can't win this job long-term.
He wants a team of his OWN. That is a MAN, and a professional. I am a fan of Matt Moore.
this comps over...unless he gets hurt dollars to donuts ryan tannehills the week 1 starter...dollars to donuts
Don't bet on it Hoops. I still think that they'd prefer to ease Tannehill in a bit later.
Agree...Tannehill should start this week and as long as he doesn't drop an egg he's going to start week 1. Philibin said he wants the best player on the field...thats Ryan Tannehillno way...only way this things still open is if tanny doesn't start against carolina...which is the perfect scenario for him to start...a low level 1's defense...tannys banging too many 20 yard and chunk yardage plays and converting 3rd downs and heck 3rd and longs even where i don't see how they don't choose the upside play...add in the ball security the move athlete the things that you can do in your playbook at a very high level on the move with him and this puppies history...unless he craps the bed against carolina...and i'd say odds on that are slim to none
if moore starts week 1 for anything other than injury i'll be floored...
Not true at all .... there were games when Moore and the offense spotted the defense leads and visa versa. Each contributed. Hence my comments about crushing lesser competition, which we never used to do. In the past we always played down to them, getting by on FG's. Against tougher competition (i.e. NE, Dallas, Philly) they both the offense and the defense played 1 half of a ball game. In NE, the offense spotted the defense a 17-0 first half lead .... neither side closing the game out in the second half. In Dallas, the defense definitely spotted the offense multiple turnovers, but the offense only came away with FG's. In the second half, both struggled and we had a lead late in the 4th until the defense had 3-4 opportunities to sack Romo on late downs and came away with squat. Philly, we were dominated thoroughly on both sides.
It is actually a good comment on his part. He states the truth, compliments Ryan T. and makes him feel like the future, positions himself as an underdog of sorts, illustrates to the staff he will work hard and support Ryan. He is also fully aware they can choose to keep him. Good for you Moore. What bothers me more is people calling Ryan Tannehill, Tranny, Tanney or whatever the word is. What is with nicknames before you even prove yourself let alone after? No matter how you view Matt Moore as a player, i don't understand how anyone can try to attack his character for this statement. He is absolutely right, he is auditioning for a new job, and that hasn't been any different since we took Ryan at number 8 overall.
Playing in the NFL is a JOB..... and the writing has been on the wall for a long time that this season was going to be an audition to the rest of the league whether he was starting, keeping the seat warm for ryan, or sitting behind him.
I'd much rather a player be honest, and have his head on his shoulders than give the politically correct BS nonsense answer.
