More signs dolphins are losing top dog status in Miami maybe 3rd best now..

Riley is a genious b/c he got lebron. i hope the heat go nowhere. the hype over the heat perfectly examplifies the bandwagon and over-hype in miami sports fans. every new player etc is going to win 6 or 7 championships. . . once "the chin" or whoever comes in here it'll be the same hype , and then the same bashing after he loses 1 game. The canes beat a decent team without a few of its starters - who cares. we'll see what happens. and the phins may be "3rd in miami" but they still have plenty of hardcore fans down there - its virtually all the radio talks about down there etc. kinda like the yankees up here. . . they own everyone else . . then again they are perenial contenders to say the least - but still the phins wont truely be unseated until the real HARDCORE fans start coming from there. as of now the phins have more HARDCORE followers both down there and in the rest of the country.

Think we could go one god damned day without one of these threads? Is it possible? I forgot we are the only ****ty team that doesnt sell out every game. My bad. Doesnt happen to the Raiders or Bengals or Lions. ****, the Chargers are good and they dont even sell out every game. We suck.

Don't care about the Hurricanes. They might even get the death penalty, not likely, but still remains a possibility.

Don't care about the Heat. They tried to buy a championship and failed to deliver. On top of that the 2011-2012 season might not happen.

Don't care about the Marlins. In fact, no one really cares about the Marlins. They had a game recently where the attendance was 347 fans.

I do like the Panthers and they are my NHL team. However, they have the longest playoff drought in the NHL and have been mostly irrelevant.

The Heat tried to buy a championship and failed, huh? Well first of all the last time I checked, they still have the same team in place as they did last year, so I wouldn't exactly call them a failure yet. Secondly and more importantly, however u want to word it, they put a great team together and got to the finals. I wish the ****ty Dolphins would try something similar.
It's amazing how complimentary to the Fins, who suck ***, while you bash the Heat who are awesome. Interesting.

The Miami Hurricanes have awful attendance and do not travel well. Are there reasons? Yup, there sure are. Small private school and their home stadium is like 30 minutes away from their campus... but the fact remains, they have absolute terrible attendance and to say otherwise is just flat out wrong.

And... they are nowhere near the most popular games on TV of all time. Times have changed since the Canes were relevant on the national stage, and they've been overtaken by teams like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Oregon. Miami is not like Notre Dame, Michigan, or Texas where even in times of downswings, they are still packed to the brim and seeing 10.1+ TV ratings. It just ain't happening.

Notice the trend? If you win, people give a ****. That's it. Miami needs to WIN. That's all. It's seriously that simple. No "orange carpet" no "celebrity owners" none of that **** matters if, when I turn on the TV, I see Miami down by 14. It all goes out of the window.

1.) They won't.

2.) Umm.... what? They lost because they had no bench. They are going to be even better. They will dominate for the next 5 years.

3.) The Marlins are my team. They've won 2 more championships than the Dolphins. A lot of people care about the Marlins. The local fan base just has no interest in going to baseball games. They are actually popular on TV.

4.) I like the Panthers, but yeah I've never seen them do anything good.

ESPN had a lot to do with the hype

I can understand why no one likes the Heat and Canes.
Same as me not liking the Jets and Pats.
They talk a lot of **** but usually back it up and beat my team.
When everyone hates the Dolphins outside of Miami you'll know we have arrived.
Cann't wait for that day.

1. Probably not, but that option remains on the table at this very moment.

2. Next five years? As of right now there is no guarantee the NBA will even be around for the next 5 years let alone the Heat.

3. They have won two championships pretty recently but still no one really cares. That says a lot.

4. Hopefully they can turn it around soon.

We'll see on 1,2,4, although I highly doubt it. As for the Marlins, I know by fact that a lot of people care about them. It seems like the Fish are more popular outside of South Florida kind of like the Dolphins.

1. Totally ridiculous. Thats like saying its "on the table" for Brady to get cut next week. Its laughable to think otherwise.

2. The NBA may miss a good chunk or maybe all of this year, but lets be real. They arent going away for 5 years.

3. People do care. Its just really hard to draw 20k or 30k every day in south florida in a ****ty stadium. The attendance will always be pretty bad, but thats just how its gonna be in Miami for baseball. People just arent gonna show up every day.

4. Nobody in Florida cares about hockey. I doubt anyone would even care if the panthers were winning.

The MARLINS suck major league Moosec*"k. The PANTHERS suck major league Moosec*"k. The HEAT are a disappointment, and will continue to be so, until they get a for-real Point Guard and a for-real Center. And the U hasn't fielded a solid team in almost a decade, and doesn't look any better today. QED.

If fan support for THOSE TEAMS is lacking and/or transient, it may be because: (1) The MARLINS dismantled a championship team twice, for money. (2) The PANTHERS dismantled an NHL Stanley Cup Finals team, for money. (3) The "U" acts like a major league dumbbell, and has looked for a cheap "quick fix" for too long! They've lost their "edge", and can't seem to find it: "Quarterback U" ain't "Quarterback U" no mo', people...but losers beget losers, for sure! And (4) The HEAT are d**k once the lights go out, the glitz fades, and the street cleaners sweep up the "ticker tape" after the season ends w/o a real "ticker tape parade". And for SO VERY MUCH MONEY!!! (Maybe they should've gone after NOWISKY (sp?) and a defensively solid , true "point guard", instead of LeBRON the choker)

I guess Media glitz is as much an illusion as a Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cartoon...or maybe a POPEYE cartoon: a can of spinach (spinach=money) doesn't make you God in the real world.

The Panthers dismantled their team because of money? The Panthers made it
To the finals because of luck, the right bounce of the puck sort of speak.

The Fins would be so lucky to have a guy like Dale Tallon running the Fins now. The Panthers are in a much better shape for a long run at success, and that is sad, as a Fin fan, seeing how bad the Panthers were just two seasons ago. Regardless of attendance, the Fins will be looking up at the Heat and Panthers, at least until they get rid of dumb and dumber, at least!

How do you buy a championship in a capped sport?

So Fin fans want Ross to go out and spend money on anyone and everyone, but the Heat "tried" to buy a championship, when in reality, Riley was smarter than every other GM, got the best player in the world to play with the 2nd/3rd best player in the world, along with one of the better PFs in the game, all while working within the rules? Sorry dude, but that is a ridiculously ignorant comment.

Its a shame how far this Dolphin team has fallen pretty much since Marino retired. Only the Marlins are a worse run team, and aside from a few bright spots, there is much more to look forward to when talking about the Heat and Panthers.
