More signs dolphins are losing top dog status in Miami maybe 3rd best now..

And it will till the other teams show some balls (like Riley) and win some games.

If we pay Cowher a fortune and draft Luck and pay him the fortune are we buying a championship ?

I'm all for it ... not my money.

You cannot honestly believe that professional basketball will close up shop within the next five years or even think that that is even remotely a possibility.

Better chance of the Hurricanes getting this death penalty that will never happen.

The Panthers dismantled their team because of money? The Panthers made it
To the finals because of luck, the right bounce of the puck sort of speak.

Bulls**t. I don't knwow what team YOU were watching, but it wasn't the PANTHERS. They did EVERYTHING well. COLORADO was just a little better, and had the hot (and i/m/o very, VERY underrated) Goalie. Simple as that.

First off get one thing straight . . . this is a FOOTBALL town. The Marlins, Heat and Panthers all have fans and followers . . . but its a very bandwagony thing and alot of that has to do with the amount of games played in those sports and fans not really getting interested until the team plays meaningful games i.e. playoff games. When these teams are bad, the majority of the "bandwagon fans" don't care that they exist or don't care how bad they are.

This is a Dolphins town first, followed by the Hurricanes and now the bandwagoners are on the Heat bandwagon. Next year I would expect the Marlins to do real well on attendance, although they are gonna lose alot of fans outside of Miami-Dade like myself who used to go to a handful of Marlin games every year at SunLife. Just the thought of making that trip in rush hour down by the OB doesn't sit well with me being in Broward. I'll still make a few games, but it will have to be on the weekend, unlike at Sunlife where I would hit up a Wednesday night game after work. I'm not a hardcore Panthers fan, but I go to a few games every year, I actually enjoy it. I'm hopeful this team gets in the playoffs one year . . . because the Bank Atlantic Center can rock when it wants too.

It is gonna take more than Lebron, Wade and Bosh to make this a "Heat town" . . . maybe a "Heat Town" in the public eye, but the sports fans are football rooted down here. Wednesday/Thursday night JV games, Friday night high school games, Saturday morning/noon youth camp games . . . Saturday mid/late afternoon/night college games, Sunday NFL games. No media outlet is gonna tell me any different. I live in it, I see it every day. This is a football area, it always has been and it always will be.

1. Miami Dolphins
2. Miami Hurricanes
3. Miami Heat
4. Florida Marlins
5. Florida Panthers

The top 2 are secure, the bottom 3 can switch up with success/bandwagoners. This is how it is, whether the stadium dictates that or not.

THIS. The Panthers didn't get lucky in 1996 . . . they played some damn good hockey and lost to the better team and they still played their ***** off for the home crowd in game 3 and 4, despite getting swept. The Panthers earned a place in South Floridians hearts with their performance and the fans are waiting for them to finally assemble a good team for them to get excited about.

THIS ALSO. That Cup run was amazing and had the whole town behind it. It wasn't luck, that was a well coached, gritty team with a goalie absolutely standing on his head. That they fought so hard against the Avs, who were arguably an all-time great team, was a beautiful thing to support. Unfortunately, they've had criminal ownership. As poorly run as any team in North American sports. Then with the lockout and the series of debacles since it has resulted in them being completely unwatchable. I'm so excited about what Tallon brings. I'm going to be out there watching them as often as possible.

Losing? Already lost. This city belongs to the Miami Heat first and foremost.

Horses**t. The HEAT was put together w/megabucks, for big names, and a championship was expected. The shock must've been intense, but that's life, fools. The HEAT has 3 big stars playing a game w/ONE ball. And they have no "supporting cast". They remind me a bit of the old MILWAUKEE BRAVES. Hitters galore: a real "murderers' row". But only 2 Pitchers!! Hence, the Milwaukee Braves' Fans' lament: "SPAHN and SEINE, then pray for rain". And there wasn't enough rain to save them, even w/an EDDIE MATTHEWS and a HANK AARON.

Until the HEAT get a "point guard" who can actually play Point Guard well, AND score a little, AND defend, they have at least 1 BIG problem. And until they get a C who can play w/the big boys, they have a 2nd. Depth is a 3rd...the only QUALITY depth that they seem to have is HASLETT: everyone else reeks of mediocrity. HASLETT's the perfect example of what I mean. He CAN defend, and he's a good, solid rebounder, who doesn't feel any need to become a bigtime scorer--a perfect, exact fit, because that's an important aspect of the game, and there REALLY IS only one basketball.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about so I won't even waste the time responding. Too much wrong with that post. Almost every point is wrong. The Heat don't need a "true" PG for obvious reasons. Do you not expect the majority of the team to "reek of mediocrity" when you've got 3 players making max money? Jesus Christ. And I've never heard of "Haslett" before, and you used the name twice so it's not a typo.

They were good enough to get there, so they're good enough to win. They came up short in their FIRST SEASON playing together.

In my lifetime I've never even been able to say the Dolphins "came up short" because they've never even been good enough to COME UP SHORT. This is the Miami Heat's town now. Deal with it or get lost. See you at the parade next June if there's a season.

This post is hilarious. Let me first say that I am a die hard fan of the Dolphins, The U, Heat, and Marlins, but seriously.... you're still putting the Canes in front of the Heat in terms of fan support in THIS TOWN? Are you kidding me? They can't even fill 75% of that stadium with the ****ing Buckeyes coming to town.

This is a high school and college football town, but in terms of professional sports, if you haven't seen the MAJOR CHANGE then you're as blind as blind can be.

4. Nobody in Florida cares about hockey. I doubt anyone would even care if the panthers were winning.

I'm from South Florida and lived there most of my life, I love the Panthers. Floridians did too, back when they were competitive or even relevant. They have sucked longer than the Dolphins though.

I'm picturing Jim Haslett with cornrows playing PF...

Bulls**t what? The Panthers won because they had everything going for them that season, simple as that. The team still had most of what they chose in the expansion draft. They were a hard working, grind it out team, that just got beat by a better, more talented Avalanche team. Patrick Roy was "VERY underrated?" He was one of the top goaltenders even before Colorado got him from Montreal. If anything, Beezer was the hot goalie who was a huge part of us getting to the finals.

And I was a Panther season seat holder for almost 10 years. I was at the Miami Arena for the first game ever, and was at both SCF games as well. Im a HUGE South Florida sports fan, but I bleed Panther colors more than any other team, so dont question what I was watching. "Simple as that!"

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about!

First off, its HASLEM, not Haslett!

Second, IT WAS THEIR FIRST YEAR TOGETHER! You take two of the top three players in the world, who predominantly dominate the ball, one of the top PFs in the game, and overall, a brand new roster, and most of the time, they wont make it to within two wins of a championship. You dont think this team will get better? Are you on crack? Players will want to play for the Heat, and they will take less money to do so. The Heat have the main pieces already, and Riley is far from done with this team. He was the only one with enough balls to do what he did, and when all is said and done, they will be hanging a couple of banners in the rafters.

Most experts didnt have them going to the Finals, or even beating the Bulls. And that was evident after the whopping the Bulls game them in Game 1. But when you have a Wade and James, you are never out of anything. They dominated the Celtics, and they took it to the Bulls as well. If it wasnt for a horrible 4th quarter in game two of the Finals, the Heat probably win the title in YEAR ONE! So if they were that good in YEAR ONE, with the big three, and not much else, how much better will they be when Riles adds pieces. Not only that, but when the season starts eventually, Miller will be 100%, Haslem will be 100%, and we will get to see Pittman worked into the rotation, as well as Cole. They will only get better!

You got your Miami heat
the team the rest of America hates..
Now you got the miami hurricanes
that the rest of America hates as well
These 2 teams are trending
in the right direction with local fans.
And have used adversity
to ignite the local fan base..

Hurricanes have been a real shocker
you would think with the shapiro allegations
that many of the bandwaggoners
would be jumping off this hasn't happened.
The uncertainty of the program
and fears of a death sentence
has awoken canes fans..

If your a local dolphin fan
odds are more than 50 %
you like the canes..
While the dolphins are in chaos
it is a blessing to have UM
looking tough with all its facing.

More subtle signs that the dolphins
are losing ground with fans..
While shopping at my local Winn Dixie today
you could see hurricane balloons everywhere
Where are the dolphin balloons and marlin balloons?
Winn Dixie is not exactly
a mom and pop grocery..
They going to carry products
that make them money..

Build a winner and the fans will come
at least give the fans a reason to believe..

You're talking about the same Hurricanes who lost to Maryland and is currently down to Kansas State right???

I just wanted to make sure that's who you were talking about, because I think you said something about them looking "tough"?? Can't be the same team; maybe it's a high school team out there idk about?

The Heat? People really support them out there? Man it was tough to tell last season with all those empty seats. I saw them in the finals and it sounded like there were just as many Mavericks fans in the building. Now I'm sure there probably weren't as many, it only sounded like it because Miami fans are too "classy" to make noise for their team, or some bull**** like that right??

I mean if that's how you guys support the top dawg in your city I'd hate to see how you support the bottom dawgs.

Oh yea that's right, the Marlins; no one goes to those games; even though they've won 2 world series championships in the past 15 years, more than most franchises can say. A team that constantly has some of the most talented young players in baseball.

Face it guys, Miami isn't a real sports town; and really I don't know if I can blame you, I've been down there and it is tough to keep your mind on going to games when there's so much other cool **** to do. Really up here in the northeast the weather is ****ty, conditions are dreary, all alot of people have is cheering for their team; and we're naturally a little orniary because of it; and it shows in how loud people up here get when cheering for their team. It's rare I go to a sports bar on a sunday and DON'T see a fist fight.

So really the more I think about it, it's not your fault you guys suck as fans, the conditions just aren't made for it.

But please don't give me the bull**** line about how "IF we actually won, people would come". Because that is bull****, when we were winning in the 90s the stadium was regularly empty; granted many of the seats were paid for but people end up having better **** to do or get there late. And you don't know how to get rowdy and shake up the opposing teams. Idk, I'm rambling a bit; but I'm sick of hearing this delusion that it's the teams fault you guys don't go to games; Miami just isn't a real sports town period. But I still love the Dolphins, it's frustrating.
