Look, I want richie back, and I think Martin took this to far.

But let's not act like richie is innocent, or didn't have something like this coming. I don't think richie is a full blown racist, but it's also not acceptable under any circumstances to say those kinds of things.

My guess is richie has own problems emotionally, and personality wise, most people who act and talk like him do. Mix that kindnof personality with Martin, who seems to have his own set of problems, and this is the nonsense that can happen. Neither are innocent in this IMO. Its just unfortunate.

I think Richie is a dope who crossed the line one too many times. I just think the broad spectrum of comparisons made with him right now are funny. Some dude straight up compared him to Hitler earlier.

The aggrieved person has the responsibility to either-

1. Inform the other party that the comments are no longer acceptable, or

2. Inform an authority figure and get them involved

A lot more stuff is going to come out. This isn't the end of it.

The only person who can really end this situation is Jon Martin, and his handlers obviously don't want that to happen.

I think his handler's are back tracking because Martin didn't give complete disclosure. If the guy is sharing VMs with the locker room and laughing about them, there really is nothing that can be released for the Martin camp to recover their credibility. A shame the decision was made to mum the players because a whole lot of heartache could have been avoided.

i've known kids who would hang out with people who constantly abused them and made them the butt of all the jokes. they would try harder and harder to fit in and be "accepted". it's similar to battered wife syndrome.

again, like so many others out of context. He said I heard you been working out for 10 weeks. I'll kill you. He meant no matter how much you work out I'll still be stronger, tuffer........I can't believe the people that are making that out as a death threat. He over stepped no question about it but some people can pull one word out of a conversation and make it say anything.

The context I get from those phrases is that martin's work habits were making Incognito look bad- showing him up- making him look like he was slacking, and he was bantering with him in that line of thinking.

You could be quite right, but why then are they hinting at more voice mail to come? IMO that tells me they are going to press the attack.

a good lawyer could poke holes in that theory all day with enough evidence. The fact that a second year player was still getting the treatment from cogs is disturbing in and of itself to me. WTF? Did coaches really think this stuff "toughens up" a guy?

I played OL in HS on a high ranked NY state team. We got tough in August in the hot 90 degree sun getting in shape and hitting the sled til we puked. This crap is for the birds!

A good lawyer can turn this the other way as well. AND yes .... toughening up guys through extra attention has worked for centuries in many, many Alpha male institutions and cultures. This is absolutely not unique to the Dolphins.

Quite frankly, this stuff was mild compared to many other instances. Name calling? Please ... remember stick and stones and all that?

It's a tried and true method, established by those who demand mental and physical strength from someone deemed mentally or physically weak. I played some ball as well and seen it done plenty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the end result usually means some inferior participant goes home unable to make the grade in shame, not crying to mommy and daddy, claiming harassment.

the difference here is that crying harassment can potentially earn martin millions of dollars....as opposed to just getting some highschool football coach with a huge beerbelly reprimanded

We know where he is. He is back in California with his parents getting emotional counseling, or in a rehab facility out there, one of the two. At least, that's what I've seen reported.

That's why I don't want to personally bash Martin the way some are. I think he has major personal problems he is dealing with right now and I am willing to bet he is not the one running the show here.
