Mort: Ross, Ireland, Peterson all have diff ideas about coach

I speak with much certainty when I say Bowles will not be the head coach. He will remain with the team and I believe he received a 2nd interview out of respect. You can't get away with allowing candidates to come in and get second interviews without allowing your interim coach to state his case. The organization didn't want to burn bridges because they want to retain Bowles in some capacity. In my opinion he stays with the team and gets promoted to DC

So you're saying that you don't want jeff to be the gm?
Well how has this been different from all but 1 of Ireland's Fin career? I have been hearing nothing else but the idea that he did not make any of the decisions as gm until last year so if true he should have no trouble sitting back meekly for one more decision.

So, if true, we have differing opinions being discussed with all parties trying to find the best man for the job. This is bad why?

And we buy all of this like it's truth.

Rumor: "Ross holds seance and consults with Lombardi's ghost as to who should be the next HC."

The ludicrous rumors that surround this franchise have less to do with outlandish journalism and more to do with the media's perception that this FO is batsh*t crazy and they can make literally ANY accusation stick.

I don't buy that. If you tell the man he's the GM, then you treat him like he's the GM. If you don't trust him to be the GM, you pick someone you do trust.

Ireland wants a coach in here who's going to adhere to the ground and pound roster he's tried to build through the draft by taking offensive lineman and backs like Daniel Thomas. He wants a coach who gives him the best chance to make his draft picks work out, with the mindset that they can win with game manager type quarterback. Along with somebody he can throw under the bus and save his own job when it doesn't work out.

Ross seems like he's more in line with what I think Miami should be doing. He doesn't just want a coach, he wants to bring in a proven system via coaching staff. A system and a structure that likely has the quarterback position as it's focal point, and places the proper value on the position itself.

Peterson is irrelevant in all this to me. It's no skin off his back one way or the other.

The problem I have is that we're approaching another situation that can't be pinned on Jeff Ireland if it blows up in Miami's face again in 3 years. Another situation where Ireland's involvement is "fuzzy" at best, allowing his fingerprints on another potential disaster to be whiped clean with no clear cut definition of exactly what he's responsible for.

If Ross felt like keeping Jeff Ireland as his GM was as asset, then he needs to let him do his job, and defer to Ireland and let him hire his coach. At least that way there's no more squirming out of the guillotine.

I trust Ross' instinct and evaluation of the coaching and quarterback situation a helluva lot more than I do Jeff Ireland's. However, both Ross and the Ireland fanboys finally need to be able to know they can hold him accountable for something.

Actually if this is true, they should remove the interim tag from Boles. They know he is a solid coach who they entrusted to lead them the last 3 games which he did. He is well liked and respected in the locker room and maintains continuity for the organization.
It seems like he's not really being considered, which is a good thing.

At this point I think Ross should let Ireland take a step back and listen to Peterson who has been around much longer. Certainly, Brian Billick, the name alone would put things into perspective around the football community in South Fla. I heard Michael Irvine talk about Billick the other day and he is just amazed with the level of football IQ that Billick brings with him. Billick has stated that being in a studio around so many different NFL personalities has made him even more prepared to deal with today's style of NFL.

While I wouldn't be dissapointed with someone like Philbin or even McCoy at this point, I would rather go for a proven coach in Brian Billick. I think that would puts things into structure.
We're talking about Michael Irving. He's impressed with ANYONE'S iq compared to his.

I was listening to Chris Mortenson on the radio he said that Ross, Ireland, and Carl Peterson all have different opinions as to who should be the head coach, ross likes philbin, ireland likes mccoy, and peterson thinks the search should expand so we can talk to guys like billick and shottenheimer, just more dysfunction as usual, i posted a little bit of an article from PFT about this as well.

Salguero writes that there is a lot of “behind-the-scenes” lobbying for each candidate. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has hinted that G.M. Jeff Ireland and advisor Carl Peterson have had different ideas about what the team should be looking for. PFT

Honestly, how would Mort or anyone else really know what each of these guys thinks of the candidates? More erroneous speculation.

So you like me believe that Ireland is and has been the one held accountable for the talent brought in?

I'm betting that Ireland has been sneaking into each office in Davie after hours... and erasing the words 'Accountable' and 'Decisive' from all of the dictionaries... So far so good.

I want to know just how, since Miami is so secretive, these reporters supposedly find this out. As if somebody is leaving the building and saying..."just a tip, Ross, Ireland and Peterson all have a different idea of who the coach should be." Just sounds like soooo much speculation and bed reporting everytime a story/rumor breaks out on this coaching search. NOBODY knows.

this is just annoying. just hire mccoy. ireland is your GM, we dont want an old retread so go with mccoy. philbin is old and doesnt seem to have the "fire" this is such a joke, i knew these bums were not really considering candidates they were just chasing fisher - then they tell him to go screw and they have nothing. just hire someone already.
