Mort: Ross, Ireland, Peterson all have diff ideas about coach

It seems like he's not really being considered, which is a good thing.
Arguments can be made for or against any of the three. As Slimm pointed out, I trust Ross more then Ireland. If they go Irelands route he can't weasel out of responsibility. If they go with Ross the team becomes more modernized with the QB position being the focus of the offense. Boles is the compromise.

What is surprising to me is that with the votes of confidence Ross has given Ireland, he doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence in him.

Actually if this is true, they should remove the interim tag from Boles. They know he is a solid coach who they entrusted to lead them the last 3 games which he did. He is well liked and respected in the locker room and maintains continuity for the organization.
I guess my question to you would be: do you want continuity with this team? I for one do not.

and here we go again.....lol.......can't wait for tomorrow, they should have the new coach in place by then. If not, we'll have no coaching staff for the seniorbowl.

Ozzy rules!!

I was listening to Chris Mortenson on the radio he said that Ross, Ireland, and Carl Peterson all have different opinions as to who should be the head coach, ross likes philbin, ireland likes mccoy, and peterson thinks the search should expand so we can talk to guys like billick and shottenheimer, just more dysfunction as usual, i posted a little bit of an article from PFT about this as well.

Salguero writes that there is a lot of “behind-the-scenes” lobbying for each candidate. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has hinted that G.M. Jeff Ireland and advisor Carl Peterson have had different ideas about what the team should be looking for. PFT

You posted this with the intent of a negative reaction by the way you worded it but I see absolutely nothing wrong with the three of them favoring different coaches. This can hopefully lead to the best candidate being chosen to lead the Dolphins from here on.

No but unfortunately by not firing Ireland along with Sparano the only change will be the head coaches name. Until Ireland is gone, the Dolphins simply won't be able to undergo the change needed. What really is troublesome is if they hire Philbin how does Ireland respond in getting the necessary pieces for him?

Couldn't disagree more. Granted he's the owner, his football knowledge is suspect. I'd be more inclined to go with Peterson on this one. That being said Petersons candidates are not "yes men" so they are more than likely not going to get true consideration

What a disaster.

This would seem to indicate that Ross is hard to deal with from everyone's point of view.

Peterson and Ireland, who both have forgotten more about the NFL than Ross will ever know.

this is just annoying. just hire mccoy. ireland is your GM, we dont want an old retread so go with mccoy. philbin is old and doesnt seem to have the "fire" this is such a joke, i knew these bums were not really considering candidates they were just chasing fisher - then they tell him to go screw and they have nothing. just hire someone already.

Philbin is 50? That isn't exactly old for a HC!

That was always my concern, dating back to last year. If Ireland survives, will he 100% support a new HC with a new system, or will he passively-aggressively continue the Parcellian Way by resorting to "sorry BPA, had to."

We read they all have different opinions...and go ape****.

If we read the three all agree on one person to be coach...we would all go ape****.

I'm only for Philbin if we get Flynn, but my choice right now is McCoy.

The amount of speculation on what the dolphins brass is thinking is mind boggling. I'm not certain they know who they are going to pick so why outsiders are "guessing" is beyond me. However, anytime a a group of people interview a candidate there are going to be varying opinions on who will be best for the company. Its not as if Ross and Ireland are going out and publicly favoring one candidate over the other. This is how decisions are made and its through the discussions of differing opinions the right choice (they feel) will be made. For anyone to speculate at this point is a little pointless, IMO.

If that guy is 50 it sure ain't a young 50.
