Mort said nfl wants to restore once proud franchise, says ireland is gone

I'm ok with both being gone but does the NFL have that authority to tell Ross who he fires?

Ross ceded that authority to Roger Goodell when he asked the NFL to perform the investigation. Depending upon what Goodell tells the investigator to say, Ross will be forced by media pressure to fire whoever Goodell wants gone.

I will repeat myself one more time: the NFL investigation is not and will not be unbiased. The NFL has a vested interested in the outcome of the investigation in that they want to make certain that nothing happens that will adversely affect the profit making ability of the NFL.

No, it is absolutely true that the NFL has a program in place to headhunt for front offices. I first heard about this years ago, in connection with the Oakland Raiders, I think.

The NFL absolutely 100% has a system in place that allows a team owner to say "Hey, please help me fill my front office with people who aren't Jeff Ireland" and the league will come in and do just that. This is absolutely a real thing. I believe it was put in place primarily for expansion teams.

Ross did not ask for FO help he asked for an investigation - difference. Now if he needs help filling needs he can ask.

The NFL has a "head hunting program" where they can set up an organizational structure for franchises. I think that his what Mort is suggesting.

IF I was Ross, I would be eager to do this especially if it means avoiding major penalties from the league.

What exactly does that mean? Does that mean they tell Ross to fire certain people or point out to him who the problems are? Does the league have a say in who is hired or would that be all on Ross to build the new structure?

What ever it take for Miami to be the power house it was ling ago. I am not surprised. JI has been ho-hum.
I will be a really happy fan when we get this all fixed. The right way.

Do the Dolphins still play actual football games

I don't know the specific details of the program, but the NFL would essentially step in and redesign the organizational structure and pick qualified candidates to fill the positions. I don't recall if any teams have actually taken advantage of this program before, but I know it's been rumored a bunch of times -- particularly when Mark Davis took over in Oakland.

They will help him if he asks. The league has no say but they can put pressure on him to make changes by threatening to remove draft picks and such if he doesn't comply. I believe Wayne Huizenga used the NFL's headhunting firm to hire Joe Bailey and Cam Cameron.

Not gonna hurt my feelings. I just hope we can stay competitive this year. Then give me a whole new staff. I do like philbin but wont loose sleep when he gone.

PFT has a story now that claims Ross is "apopleptic" with the situation. That's a good word. I think I've actually said that's how he should feel, so maybe his behind the scenes PR guys are reading my posts.

Ireland and Philbin are ****ing toast. Everyone is toast. Get ready for the Gruden boys.

The NFL wants to restore the once proud Miami Dolphins franchise? Perfect! This means that from now on all questionable calls will go our way and we will have rules invented for us so that we don't lose meaningful games anymore. Sounds good, I'm in.

How embarrassing if the league has to come in and do our owners job!
