Moving On- Dolphins Dollars vs Draft on Needs/Upgrades?

You gotta think Zac Martin is the pick unless we sign 2 more linemen if he's not there I grab Mosley

Sign another FAOL that can start and pass block. Then go BPA in the draft for 1st 3 rounds. Then need from round 4 to round 7. Then FAs needed after the draft.

We all know we need a RT and OG, and then there are the upgrades at RB, TE, WR, LB, S, CB, and kick returner which have been mentioned by many. IMO, we will be Lucky to get 2 , possibly 3 players from the draft to come in and make some impact this year.

So, going with that, you have 3 positions to fill from the draft, and the rest from FA or, you can chose to stay with what we have at a position or two. The forum appears split many different ways on this.

How would you split the 3 from the draft vs FA?

TE and WR are luxuries the way I see it, With Dustin Keller coming back and Sims in his second yr with Clay coming into his own I wouldn't draft a TE, I would draft a RB late and pick up a vet and let them compete in camp. I would concentrate on OL and LB in the draft then CB hopefully our two rooks from last yr are ready to go and add a vet later this summer....

IMHO nothing matters until the OL is fixed. Play makers can not make plays if the OL is hot stinky garage (like last years Phinz OL). Bottom-line I do not care how many offensive linemen the Phinz draft this year or what round, just fix the OL and make them good so our play makers can make plays. It's just basic football 101 :-)

We don't have any play makers except Wallace if you want to call him that. Personally we need a top wide out desperately.

I say move up and take Watkins or Evans. Then we will have someone that can make plays and put points on the scoreboard.

We are fine at WR. Matthews played well last yr and Gibson should be back. No way we should spend an early pick on a WR.

How do you figure? Who on our team is a play maker WR? Scoreboard is what counts and we have no one who is a treat. Wallace is just good as a decoy.

I'm so tired of watching year after year going after linemen and LB's. Where has that got us for putting points on the board?

Bottom-line we need to pick the right offensive lineman (and have a decent OL coach). IMHO a 26 year old Jim Brown at RB with Dan 'The Man" at QB and Paul Warfield at WR could not do crap playing behind Miami's OL last year. The Phinz OL last year IMHO was the WORST OL I have every seen in Miami. They couldn't run block....but wait, they were worst at pass blocking. Last year's Phinz OL was useless garbage (and the OL coach sucked chips), what can an offense do if your QB is running for his life (or in the dirt). What good is a WR if the WR does not have time to run his route. What good is a RB if the RB is tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Clearly IMHO a play maker can not make plays if your OL is useless garbage like last year's Phinz OL. Man, just thinking about last year's Phinz OL makes me sick. There was only 1 good lineman last year (Center Mike Pouncey) the rest of those bums should be replaced ASAP.

do you guys think willie colon whose coming off a major injury would be a good low cost high potential reward signing to play guard or T?

I agree with you, if Willie Colon can block and signs cheap......sounds good to me. The Phinz need all the help they can get on the OL ASAP.

I only see a need at Oline. Fix the Oline and the run game improves instantly. Yes we can improve over D.Thomas but I would go late round or UDFA to fill that role, unless MGD or Blount takes a tiny contract (just above the vet minimum). We have a lot of corners on this team - let the rook's prove their worth.

I still think we need to give our FA LBer's another year to fit in, of course draft potential replacements = always be prepared. If we fix the oline we have a playoff team. We had a playoff team last year but with the worst oline in football we fell short 1 game!
Fix the Oline!!!

IMO this team needs three key players; ROT, run stuffing LB and a seem/red zone threat. I don't care how it's done but those are the three positions that will either really help or really hurt the Fins this year.

I'm with you on RT and LB, but I'll add RB to that mix. Those are 3 must have upgrades imo.

After those 3 positions, we need to thing about the long term answers at positions like safety and CB.

Well, read this thread and you'll see why so many people are not happy no matter what the team does. Everyone seems to have THEIR own idea as to how the FO should fix/build the team and in most cases is not even close..lol......if the FO was to do it that way they'd need to get 12 free agents and then draft 18 more guys so we can have all of that....lol

Ozzy rules!!

This draft is better than most. I expect 3 starters, maybe more.

LG, RT, RG. If pressed, those would be the positions in which I think we need young talent.

In other words, keep on doing the same-o same-o we have done for 15 years, ignore offense and pick up everyone's garbage that they don't want on that side of the ball while being obsessed with the stupid lie that defense wins championships when we don't have an offense that can score against a light breeze.

Inside-out football has made us an absolute mediocrity for 15 years now.

After missing out on another young guy on the OL, I'm looking for Hickey to sign two vets to 1 year deals, and an OT in the second round. Depending on who is available at #19, I have to go with someone who can make plays like a Pryor, Ebron, or a Moseley (doubtful). In the third, BPA which could be RB if we don't add a vet, WR, OL, LB, no way to know who might be there.
