Mr. Ross GM Statement

The circle the wagons movement is just too obvious.

This statement is a bit laughable to me.

ooooooh ross man made a statement. Were serious here people! lol

Its screams desperation to me while clearly defining a limited role while accepting being a part of a team that will no longer be here in a year (except Dawn that is). Thats what I see.

And 911 was an inside job right?

So wait, who are we scapegoating now? Someone keep me updated.

Got to love how Ross tries to put all the negative reports from a certain few reporters to rest with a clear defined role of what the GM will have control over. Only to have Armando stir the pot seconds later. It's almost embarrassing the amount of man-love certain reporters obviously had for Ireland.

I have no problem with Ross clarifying things, but everyone seems to think that the GM will be able to fire Philbin if he does not have a winning season. That don't appear to be the case. The only one that can fire Philbin will be Ross.

No, my friend. Ross has played this thing like LeBron James taking it to the bucket. Only Philbin can fire Philbin.

Its pretty damn brilliant and whether you love hate or are on the fence with Ross give the guy credit where credit is due. Jac, im not talking to you specifically but for all reading.

Hes told Philbin, "Go find YOUR guy. This one is all YOU." And hes made it public. We all can "speculate" Sherman was Philbin and only Philbin's choice because of the history. :evil grin: but it wasnt out there iiiiiin priiiiiint. Now it is.

Go out there and find the man whom along with you can get us to the playoffs. Only Philbin can fire Philbin.

Awesome post!

It's like reading a different forum tonight than I read this morning. It's amazing how quickly things turn.............

By the way, good statement by Ross.

bingo and Ross is in very good spot if joe can't deliver - the new gm gets a chance to select their guy if joe flounders

This is a dumb move by Ross. This is also the worst thing for the team, to have a GM reporting to and hired by Ross with that much power. We are in for the next Ireland.

I think that was a pretty good statement...cleared some things up.
Gonna miss some of the wildly insane assumptions now, though...

Ireland having too much power was not the problem with Ireland. Ireland being stupid was the problem with Ireland.

No football czar
No reporting to aponte
No confusion on what the job duties are

That should quell some theories.

Yep your right. And I agree it is good he made this statement. But the power is not truly autonomous. He will not have the
power to hire and fire the coach etc. He can only select the personnel. So it is status quo same as before and therefore it will
not work in my opinion.

Personally I am done with it. The decision has been made now we wait and see what happens for better or worse.

Hayden I share your concern with regard to the GM having Philbin pre-installed as his head coach for this season, but keep in mind that if Philbin fails, the new GM can just fire him. It's not the end of the world. And I'm a guy who wanted a complete house cleaning- but I can live with it as long as the GM won't have his hands tied re: personnel and picking players and will have the freedom to hire and fire coaches- which going by what Ross said, he will.

Sorry you miss understood Ross's statement... only Ross can fire the Head Coach.

"The new General Manager will have autonomous responsibility for the 53 man roster and selecting players during the draft and will report to me..."

No where does it say he can fire the head coach.

Just tweeted by Albert Breer on Mr.Ross being on the up and up with the power. Other teams are trusting Mr. Ross.

How am I sure Ross is being forthright on GM power? Couple teams are willing to grant candidates permission to talk to Miami, but not Tampa.
