Mr. Ross GM Statement

Yep your right. And I agree it is good he made this statement. But the power is not truly autonomous. He will not have the
power to hire and fire the coach etc.

It doesn't really matter if he can or can't fire philbin. 2014 is make or break for philbin, if he breaks , he will get fired. Why does it matter who does the firing? Also, if philbin does get fired , I would bet that ross will ask the new GM for his input on a new coach.

Good points but the argument all along was about who have the power to hire, fire and who they reported to.
So I agree with you to a point.

Chiefs are like this >> RT @ArmandoSalguero Ross expects GM to answer to him only. HC will answer to him only. Neither under or above other.

Sucks we have to be in a position to explain ourselves constantly

I am sorry. Have they actually selected a GM? Let's wait to see how this plays out.

If they select a Ross or a Farmer and of course Tom Gamble, I will stand up and applaud. However, everyone is so gaga over a statement. Trust, but verify.

Oh, I get it now.

When the drivel Armondo and Cole are spewing which bashes the GM search is the latest news being lapped up by the Chicken Little's on this board we are supposed to get all up in arms about it and scream from the roofs tops that the sky is falling and that no one worth a **** will even interview for the GM position.

But, when the actual owner comes out and makes a statement on the GM search we need to be patient and let this thing pay out.

You betcha.

Perhaps you should take your own advice more often.

Yes it does, and Ross has no one to blame but himself for the Fins being in that position. But it's also nice to see that Ross has learned from his prior mistakes and that like many credible journalists have stated, this current GM opening is a very coveted job.

Bingo. Patience now but not yesterday.

Well its hard for me to accept this statement from Ross when he back stabbed Sparano so badly with Harbaugh.
Seems to me he should not throw stones.

Ross:

"Regardless of reporting structure, the relationship between the General Manager and Coach Philbin must be one of trust, respect, and collaboration, and this will be an area we will look closely at during the process. This individual also must be a person with integrity who is open-minded and creative."

I think he is trying but he should not spoken about integrity. Since it seems he has little of it himself.

I think the bottom line of this statement is: "I got burned by trusting a GM too much, and now I have expectations and requirements that I need to see met, and will now start keeping record of performance."

He's learning that owning a team is a business that he needs to upgrade and improve if the time calls for it. No more "Stick with the guy you got for over 5 years"
