2006 NFL Mock Draft
*1. New York Jets - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Trade this years 1st and 3rd and 2007 2nd.* Get the back they need for the future.
2. New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart, QB, USC
Get a true QB with great skills and new coach Sean Payton views a must have since he was a QB coach.
3. Tennessee Titans - Vince Young, QB, Texas
Groom Vince under his life-tutor McNair.
*4. Houston Texans - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
Get their lineman of the future to help keep Carr protected, plus build draft picks towards next year.
5. Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk, OLB, Ohio State
After Barnett can you name a LB that plays for the Pack? No, thus being the only choice at No. 5 for the Packers to build on their lacking young D.
*6. Oakland Raiders - Mario Williams, DE, NC State
Very thin after Burgess at DE so it just makes sense to get a beast like Mario Williams who is fast and strong an dis of the Julius Pepper mold at the DE position.
*7. San Francisco 49ers - LenDale White, RB, USC
A team without a definite game changer at the RB position with many other holes, but the others can be fixed later on in the draft. White will help change the landscape of the offense and create a nice explosion with his power and ability to find the end-zone.
8. Buffalo Bills - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
Big, Strong run stuffer att he DT position for the Bills, a position that is old and unproductive in run support.
9. Detroit Lions - Tamba Hali, DE, Penn State
No WR this year Millen? Help fix the defense here with a fast DE who is productive chasing the QB. Millen could go with OT Winston Justice from USC too.
10. Arizona Cardinals - DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
Denny Green needs to get smart and either pick Cutler or a RB, best RB left thus far would be Williams no doubt, great speed and cuts.
11. St. Louis Rams - Michael Huff, CB/S, Texas
Huff is a tweener DB which helps him jump Jimmy Williams who is viewed as the best CB, can play at CB or Safety and is a must have for a lacking Rams D who was in the 5-worst in Defense last year.
12. Cleveland Browns - DeMeco Ryans, OLB, Alabama
Browns add one of as some view the best LB in college while playing for the D-minded Alabama squad that relied much on the D and Ryans. Solid pick in a LB full draft.

13. Baltimore Ravens - Chad Jackson, WR, Florida
Best WR in the draft that is very thin at WR. Very fast with adequate size at 6'1". Showed his good route running ability in college. This may be a reach, but Boller needs another weapon to throw to.
*14. Kansas City Chiefs - Jimmy Williams, CB, VT*
KC trades with Philly giving up their 1st and 3rd with a conditional 2nd next year if Jimmy Starts 12 games knowing he won’t be there when they pick at 20. Big CB with great range. Ball-hawk type player. Will be great alongside Surtain.
15. Atlanta Falcons - Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College
Great pick here for the Falcons as they get a player who would have been a top 5 last year had he come out as a JR., but slid due to late season injury. Helps a poor run defense.
16. Miami Dolphins - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
Saban knows he needs a franchise QB and that’s what Cutler looks to be. Lead all SEC QB’s, and lead the team against great SEC competition.
17. Minnesota Vikings - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
Vikings have needed a catching capable TE for some time now, with Davis they get an absolute stud at the position. Has WR ability in a TE/LB frame. Great pick here.
18. Dallas Cowboys - Winston Justice, OT, USC
Dallas gets Bledsoe some much needed protection here with a strong Tackle.
19. San Diego Chargers - Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio State
Unproductive position of major need for the chargers to make the team complete. Get a speedy receiver with great return ability.
*20. Philadelphia Eagles- Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa
Traded with KC due to deep LB draft and totally luck out with one of the best hitters at the position. Smart trade and great pick for the future.
21. New England Patriots - Abdul Hodge, ILB, Iowa
With the aging LB position in New England, Iowa LB’s go 1-2 here. Hodge is a hitter who may not play right away in the Patriot’s D, but can learn and be a future pro-bowler.
22. Denver Broncos (from Washington) - Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn
You know Shanahan and his O-Line. He gets a massive 6'8" Tackle for Depth.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan
Huge DT prospect at 6'4" 335. Will help on pass rush and stop the run.
24. Cincinnati Bengals - Darnell Bing, S, USC
Great coverage Safety with great ability to read the QB and a big-time hitter. 25. Chicago Bears - Marcedes Lewis, TE, UCLA
Young talented TE with great hands. Lacks great size for blocking, but is serviceable and was once a FB in college so has the tools to improve.
26. New York Giants - Thomas Howard, OLB, UTEP
The fastest LB in the draft which the Giants have absolutely the worst LB corps in the NFL.
27. Carolina Panthers - Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia
Pope is an extremely tall(6'7") TE with great blocking ability and huge mitts for catching the rock. Carolina gets a huge pick here.
28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Antonio Cromartie, CB, Florida State
Cromartie hasn’t played much college football, but at 6'3" and great speed and with a possible great combine, he can make the thin corner position(aside from Mathis) stronger for the future.
29. Denver Broncos - Maurice Stovall, WR, ND
Boosted draft stock at the Senior Bowl and is a huge target. Rumors have TO going to Denver, but if they do not land him, look for Denver to get a big target to help Lelie get open more.
30. Indianapolis Colts - Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
Losing Edge might be a possibility, so who better than to draft Maroney. Great runner with great vision who can take it inside and outside.
31. Seattle Seahawks - Claude Wroten, DT, LSU
Helps stop the run with his fast ability to get through the O-Line.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Max Jean-Gilles, OG, Georgia
Won the Super Bowl so not much need but depth here. Grabbing the best Guard would add to a great running game and help protect Big Ben in the pocket for years to come.

I wouldn't give him too much slack for Bing, Stovall, or Wroten at the end of round one, it could happen, even though I don't have any of them in the first round of my mock.

Pretty good mock...

Accept the Jets/Texans trade. It will take more then a 3rd and a future 2nd to move up to #1.

I dont see Baltimore taking Chad Jackson considering they used a first last year on Mark Clayton and they signed Derrick Mason.

Well I hate to do this cause I am sure you spent alot of time on this, But I think there are alot of holes in your Draft. I will start from 1st picks to the end that I have a problem with. I am not going to say anything about the Reggie Bush thing other than Fans in Houston might Riot. San Francisco Has a running back in Frank Gore and he really started to play well at the end of the year so why would they draft a rb when they have greater needs on defense. Detroit I think is gunna take a QB because who so they have? Harrington is a lost cause and Jeff Garcia did alright. Demeco Ryans willl not get drafted that early I am sorry. Senior Bowl killed him with the speed he doesn 't have. I have a feeling its not going to get better at the Combine either. The Ravens going after Chad Jackson is not what I think they will do, because they are not gunna have Jamal Lewis and I dont know if Chester Taylor can get it done by himself ( Lendale White USC ). Moving up that far for a third and second? I don't know. I mean they draft him here that pretty much means he is gunns start 12 games unless of injury. Herm Edwards just won't do it. Not with a CB deep draft that he could sit back and get a good one in the first or second. Mathias Kiwanuka got absolutely dominated during the week of Senior Bowl and he got hurt. I think he drops farther. Chargers Need a Saftey and Eagles need a WR more than anything. I doubt Broncos will draft a OT for Depth. I why waste a first rounder for depth. Thats why we have the second day of the draft. Tampa has already said they want to resign Chris Hovan cause of the great work he did and they need Oline help really bad. I skipped the Patroit so I am backing up. While I really like Abdoul Hodge I just don't think he goes this early. There is no way that Marcedes Lewis goes that early. Not after the Senior Bowl and thats one thing to have him go this early, But ahead of Leonard Pope ? What are you thinking???

Alright i will give you the DeMeco Ryans pick and the Marcedes Lewis pick over Pope, but you know the rest is just differing from your mock and your just trying too damn hard to critique everything. Everything ive said is sound.

Not bad just a few comments:

1. While its not out of the realm of possibility that the Jets trade into the 1st pick it will take alot more than a 3rd and a future 2nd.

2. I don't really see San Fran taking a RB unless maybe Williams because they spent alot of time with him at the Senior Bowl. They still don't know what they have in Gore and there are some really good players left on the board.

3. I don't think Baltimore would go WR in the first. They have Mason and Clayton was very impressive at the end of the season. Plus there aren't alot of good recievers in this draft and that would probably be a reach.

4. While its not impossible, it is improbable that Vernon Davis slips that far. There are some (not me) that think he is a better prospect than Kellen Winslow was coming out.

Overall not bad though.

I think the Vikes are fine at TE. Wiggins had 69 catches last year and is solid. Their needs are more at WR, OLine, and definitely given the character of this draft, they'll be looking for a feature back. They get Winston Justice and Laurence Maroney ahead of Davis unless Davis is such a combine phenom that he becomes a must-pick based solely off value.

Thanks bro, you make valid points. I really based the mocks on what i think overall improve the team and the possible direction of impact a player would have would be the way the team would go. You are right about davis, he is an absolute playmaker, he could go anywhere between 6 and 11 instead of the vikings with further assessment of my mock. I think Oakland may take him, and looking at the Rams as another possible team. The trade for the 1st pick was just a brainstorm, I will change that in my 2.0 mock. I will look at the trade with Eli and Rivers because that is essentially the trade that would be equal to what would go down in this years draft.

i doubt Lendale White goes ahead of Deangelo Williams but it is possible.

San Fran, Cleveland, and B-more picks are terrible, but otherwise one of the better mocks I've seen. I totally agree that the Texans aren't interested in Bush and will give him up for the highest bidder, which I also think will be the Jets. New York and Reggie Bush is just a perfect fit.
B-more is most likely to get LenDale, and as someone said earlier San Fran won't want a running back. I think if Cleveland goes LB, they'll get Greenway.
Stovall is a reach too. Sinorice Moss is becoming a chic first round pick, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him picked instead of Stovall.
This is all fun now, but will change drastically after the combine. The best thing about mock drafts now is to see what kind of steals there will be, because there's always a Kyle Boller that will skyrocket during the combine, and a Chris Chambers who will fall to the 2nd.

not trying to bash you or anything, but like others said before the trade for the number one pick won't happen because the jets aren't giving the texans enough value for the trade up here's a pick value chart that's pretty close to the ones alot of GM's use. pretty much for this trade to even be close in terms of value the jets would have to give up their first, second, third and next years second because next years second is valued like a third this year when consulting a chart like this one.

I thought the mock was very good. A few reaches/ risk picks, but overall good job.
