My game day experience and observations from Hell (the ralph)

eightyone81 I was at the game as well, First of you are correct the weather conditions were much worse than the 40-50 degrees predicted, low 30s wind rain terrible conditions and the game plan was not ideal for this weather....... secondly I have been going to Bills Games as a Dolphin fan for over 25 years and stopped wearing most of my Dolphins gear about 7 yrs ago, I still cheer loudly, but you are a constant target up there and you never know whats going to happen, I wear carharts, rain suits and am totally prepared for all weather conditions. Mock me but my family and friends have a good time without dealing with the crazed and boozed up redneck Bills fans who generally start problems, its alot safer.

I almost made an impromptu trip from Cleveland since yest was my B-day but I had to coach baseball in the AM. Your story and the game itself makes me glad I watched from home.

finfan54 I was pretty close to wear you were at the Ralph, yeah if you dressed correctly the weather was tolerable but 15-20 degrees colder than the 40-50 degree forecast and it definitely affected the Dolphins players, the Bills had the better game plan for the cold

No they did not. They just played as if their lives depended on it. It was their Super Bowl. Its all Buffalo lives for in December when they suck and are not going to the playoffs. Thats why people pulled the fire alarm at the hotel. They pull out all the stops. Its why Bills fans complain when they are not playing the Dolphins at home in December. Cus its the only thing they live for when they have nothing else to live for.

The weather was not why we lost. We lost because they brought their A game.

Before the game started they had two drunk fat women screaming "go Buffalo" on TV. My wife immediately looks at me and says "damn, they got some cows in buffalo!"

Sorry to hear about your troubles pal. I'm never going to Buffalo in my life because there is no reason for me ever to do so. The fact that it's a frozen ****hole should be prove enough we all should keep away.

You coach baseball in Cleveland in December?

Most miserable game I have ever been too. I agree a million percent. The rain was coming down constantly and the wind was blowing just adding to the cold. I wish It would have just snowed it would have made the weather so much better.

Yup. Just above freezing with wind and rain is far worse than snow. Only thing worse is extreme below zero temps.

I wasn't at this game but sounds a lot like a December game I endured there during Saban's time. Cold, windy, and soaking rain. I have also been to the Ralph in snowy conditions and it was nowhere near as bad.

Best tip is to bring something, anything, that you can sit on. Freezing cold metal bench seats are brutal.

Kudos to the Dolphins fans that represented yesterday. Enduring the nasty weather and a loss can be demoralizing.

Yea it was an especially rowdy crowd; the bad weather always gets em going and since many had no work today they went extra hard. That said; the key to survival in buffalo is to travel w at least 1 bills fan; then u get less of the randomness "tough guys" who only want to act hard because they figure if something pops off the whole bills crowd has thier back whereas if ur w a bills fan they know they'd have to go head up and get their ass kicked

Lol it is a frozen ****hole. I won't keep away though because it happens to be the easiest stadium for me to get to with (relatively) cheap ticket prices to watch the Phins. Yup I would rather watch them in Miami but when my budget only lets me afford the Ralph I will take it to get a live game in. If I could afford the trip to Miami(or other better stadiums) every year I would probably never set foot in the Ralph again.

and when you travel with bills fans or sit with people you know, you end up talking to all the people they hang with. There tend to be a few finfans that pop up in the family too.

Its like they say, when in Rome......just talk to them with respect and what I mean by that is offer them something.....beer, food, peace pipe.

If God decides to give the world an enema he is sticking the hose in Buffalo.

Leave it to the bills fans to have a blacked out game and make 2 people who paid for seats not want to come back! Smart smart fan base!

I hear that Ralph is a god-like figure in Buffalo. And how modest of him to name the stadium after himself. Even Jerry resisted that temptation in Dallas.
