This would be my ideal draft. Requires some players to slip a bit. But I used the CBSsports.com "projected round" numbers as a guide, so it's not like I'm demanding that players fall several rounds to us.

1st Rd: OT/OG Brandon Scherff

2552353.jpg

- Miami runs a ZBS, and he spent his entire college career in a zone blocking scheme, where he won the Outland Trophy for best lineman. He'll probably eventually play OG, but his position flexibility is useful, considering that OT Branden Albert will turn 31 this season, and tore both his ACL & MCL last November. Hopefully Branden Albert will be ok. But if not, then maybe Scherff will temporarily play RT, and Ja'Wuan James at LT.

2nd Rd: CB Kevin Johnson, Marcus Peters, or Byron Jones (whoever is available)

- We use one of our 5th rd picks to move up in the 2nd rd, and get whoever is the best CB still available.

3rd Rd: ILB Stephone Anthony

2552321.jpg

- We use one of our 5th rd picks to turn our 4th rd pick into a 3rd rd pick.

- If Stephone Anthony can play MLB, then Koa Misi moves back to SOLB for running downs, while Chris McCain plays SOLB on passing downs.

6th Rd: WR Darren Waller

2552408.jpg

- 6'6", 238 lbs, 4.46 speed, described as having good hands, with zero drops last year. Also has decent vertical, broad jump, 3-cone, and 20 yd shuttle times considering his size. Basically, a poor man's DGB.

- My view is that Ryan Tannehill is best matched with strong catch radius receivers. Darren Waller is raw, but could develop into a solid outside WR match for Tannehill.

- I would expect us to carry Kenny Stills, Jarvis Landry, Greg Jennings, Rishard Matthews, and Darren Waller on the roster. Matt Hazel & LaRon Byrd & others will compete for the 6th WR spot.

Undrafted Free Agent: RB Dreamius Smith

2553099.jpg

- Lamar Miller & Dreamius Smith serve as our 1st down backs, and Damien Williams & LaMichael James serve as our 3rd down backs.

I like all of your picks. However, it is unlikely that any of them will be available at the pick you have them being selected.

Scherff should go top 10
Kevin Johnson should go first round, so should Peters. Byron Jones should be there for round 2.
Assuming we have a 3rd rounder, Stephone Anthony should be gone by then. Most likely he is gone in the second round.

I may be wrong but i think you missed a 5th. We have 2 5ths and you used a 5th and 4th for the 3rd you have. We still have a 5th in your scenario

No, in my mock draft..

- We use one 5th & 2nd to move up in the 2nd rd.

- We use the other 5th & 4th to move into the 3rd rd.

In my mock draft, we use both our 5th rd picks to move up in the draft.

It is true that I was a bit aggressive in who would be available. But in all cases, I used the CBSsports.com "Projected Round" numbers as a guide.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

So for example, on CBSsports.com..

- ILB Stephone Anthony was listed as either a 2nd-3rd rd pick, and I said we draft him in the 3rd.

- WR Darren Waller was listed as either a 5th-6th rd pick, and I said we draft him in the 6th.

- RB Dreamius Smith was listed as either a 7th-FA, and I said we signed him as an undrafted free agent.

So I'm not making wildly unrealistic aggressive picks, considering this is my "ideal" draft scenario.

Understood didn't read that part

I'm pretty sure Hickey will be attempting to add picks not trading up. I like Scherff.

He'll probably go in the 2nd, but because of lack of options at the position in this draft, not because he warrants it.

If we draft Scherff, that will be a major FAIL!

I just got done re-watching the Iowa vs. Tennessee game, and this guy is crap. I saw nothing special with the guy. This guy is obviously someone they all projected before the season started, and now nobody has the balls to admit they were flat out wrong. This guy is going to be a bust.

I have been saying this very thing.

The guy cant pass block to save his soul and his hand placement issues seem to be legendary with scouts. He is going to fall in this draft. Scouts have him going to guard in the nfl IN A POWER SCHEME. Probably because he can't pass block and isn't near the athletic force some claim he is. He won't be dolphin that's a sure bet.

Kuondijo, Douglas and Harrison fit our scheme the best. I expect one of those Hickey will draft. I like Douglas a lot.
