This isn't about not "writing Chad Henne off" . . . this is about giving a guy who had a bad 2010 a chance to improve on that. The guy has done everything possible to put confidence in his team and the fanbase during the offseason. He took a leadership role of the offense, with a new playbook. He taught the playbook to the entire offense when coaches couldn't communicate with the team. He WANT'S to improve. He hasn't given up.
As far as getting "wet" over a solid practice by Henne . . . sure beats the flood the haters have been producing everytime Henne doesn't complete a pass in practice, in a new system, less than a week of being in camp.
We heard all offseason how Henne sucks, cut Henne, blah, blah . . . it is time for some damn football, and if he is the guy to lead us at QB, got damn it let's atleast see what he can do in a new system without having a hissy fit everytime he makes a mistake. It isn't about converting somebody into a guy who believe Henne isn't good enough or telling the non believers he is good enough . . . nobody can say they haven't seen promise from Henne, the guy is just inconsistent as hell and was hampered by a poor offensive system. Did he help himself in 2010, hell no, but I stick it out with Henne before I give up any picks for another hand me down QB.
