I really liked the draft picks and am very happy we got Tannehill but my only question is how many time is Miami going to lose good players to Offensive or defensive lineman? This regime is notorious for drafting OL/ DL guys inspite of other players available. GOD!

Case in point:

Jake Long over Matt Ryan

Philip merling over Jackson

John jerry over TE Graham

and now phucking Jonathan martin over Hill, common!

I can almost assure you that even if this guy plays in Miami for 10yrs, not one single dolfan will wear his jersey to a game. And you complain about not selling out games.

sheeshh!!! Thats my only beef on the draft, am sick of five straight draft with OL in each. Other than that it was a great draft, nonetheless.

Go Dolphins !! its turn around time, 10-6 and playoff in 2012!!!!!!!!!!!

!

Yes cuz selling out games is all that matters....lol....

We all want some play-makers but to criticize the FO for passing up players in hindsight is moot. This should've/could've is not productive, hell if we didn't make poor decisions; the Dolphins would be fielding an All-Madden team filled with Pro Bowlers demanding new contracts since they outplayed their current ones. Tony Sparano is to blame for not developing any OL products exception being Long and Pouncey as they were using pure talent to succeed. The drop-off in terms of talent past the top 5 ranked OL prospects is high.

I totally agree here. I was livid when they passed on Hill for a RT.
Regardless of whether or not he ends up being a mauler the value of the pick was just higher than the player chosen.
This team needs a play maker and that spot could have been filled.
Once again we went with the safe pick. After all these years we are still building inside out. Maybe after 6 or 7 years we will finally have five legit starters up front.
In the meantime we keep passing on extremely valuable skill players.

There are a lot of things to complain about with this draft, much like not trading up into the second (bottom) to grab Rueben Randle... but Martin is not one of them. Martin was an A+ pick. He's a fantastic tackle. Hill is a project at WR.

I don't know about anybody else, but I was all for Hill UNTIL I realized that Martin was falling to us. I had my fingers crossed for Martin at that point, and clapped like hell when we got him. It's a stinker that we couldn't have gotten him, but to say that we missed out, I dunno... The only thing we may miss out on is having our QB on the ground on what seems like every play uh hmm(Colombo).

The draft is a crab shoot, we could look at any teams picks that dont work and say they should have done something else.

There were 3 WR's in play with our 2nd pick. Hill, Jeffrey & Randle. IMO Jeffrey would not have been on Irelands board due to previous weight issues. One of Randle's and Hill's weaknesses are route running, which in my mind is something Philbin at minimum requires in a 2nd round pick. You also have to consider, Ireland has always stated that his draft rarely changes with results from combine, so Hill IMO would not have had a higher grade than Martin at same pick.

If you win, they will come. Names only sell games for a short time if you're not winning.

Hill would have been a nice pick up, but Martin fits what Philbin will be doing offensively very well.

We still have next years draft to improve at WR.We are rebuilding after all.

I think Ireland did a very good job of adding players who maybe aren't flashy names, but fit the new scheme perfectly.

While a RT picked over an off-the-chart athletic WR may not be popular, it was the right move to take Martin. The right side of the line was atrocious last year and now the position is a strength. You can have all the best receivers on your team, but when your QB is sacked every 10 snaps, it's not gonna make much difference.

Besides, Cunningham and Matthews are just the kind of WRs needed for a West Coast Offense. In two years, you'll be more than happy with Martin at RT and BJ and Rishad at WR.

Fins fans need to remember not to fall in love with a player because they are big and they run fast but to look at how they fit in the scheme.

This may come as a shock to you Fisi but O-linemen are VERY important. Martin was the right pick. Most WRs are a dime a dozen. That's a fact. Play makers can't make plays without a good O-line.

Well said :-)

The Dolphins had Marc Colombo playing right tackle last year. Right tackle was a position of need. If the playmakers are not protected, they will not make plays. On top of that, B.J Cunningham may be better than Hill. Hill caught the ball only when Georgia Tech got tired of running the ball, B.J Cunningham made plays every week. Megatron is the exception to the rule. Hill is raw.

You'd think that after 4 years of focusing on the OL we'd have that area set. Don't understand why we couldn't get a quality OL in FA the last few years instead of basically Dallas rejects and over the hill cheap backups. Every year I hope we'd get one of quality who'd anchor the line for several years, but nooooo, just several mediocre backups for depth and that have kept us using first picks.

Martin was a good pick but we have constantly squander opportunities in the past years and shouldn't have been in the position of need that we seem to be in year after year. One of my major complaints about Ireland.....but like what he's doin Draftwise this year.....Hope the OL is solved by the start of the season for I don't want to use another 1st or 2nd next draft either.........
