My Take On RI/JM (If Tired Of The Situation Don't Read)

A couple of things. Honest question: Why are you more enticed letting everyone else know your opinion about the JM/RI situation by starting a thread and replying in many other RI/JM rather than reading the report and then giving a more informed opinion about the whole ordeal.

Were you a depressed individual when you took a stand?

Also, not everyone is like you and often times "the way people are" it isnt by choice. There are more factors that play into a person's decisions than just sheer will that your OP would suggest.
To answer an honest question: This is a messageboard. I've been here in one way, shape or form for quite some time.
I often use this place as a clearinghouse for my opinions.

Was I depressed? Maybe. Probably. I was a kid then. I was mainly depressed about being picked on.
At a point I stood up.

I know not everyone is like me. Clearly.

In this world 300 pound men are crying to mommy to make it better.

If you read the first paragraph you'd see the answer to your question.

Now, since you are so attentive, and take everything into consideration before you
post, what is it you'd like to say?
Yeah i missed it, i'm not jesus christ, once again, i explained i was multitasking and my apologies. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, the 1000th incognito/martin thread. Obviously Martin has some mental issues. I've read a lot of your posts over the years and you seem to be a pretty old school guy, and you've said multiple times you're a prison guard or something to that effect if my memory serves me correct. I'm pretty sure you've seen a hell of a lot more crazy **** over your years in your chosen profession than most people will in a lifetime, and seeing craziness day in and day out has to have hardened you to a certain degree. I'm sure you see people claim they're crazy every day to receive some sort of privilege they wouldn't receive otherwise and you see grown men get treated like bitches. Just because you see these things and a majority of times the claims of mental illness are false that does not mean Martin does not in fact have a mental illness. It's pretty obvious by reading the report he has some serious self esteem problems. Maybe it stems from an underlying mental issue, maybe it doesn't but it's definitely there. Also Males today aren't raised like you were 55-65 years ago, society is changing, and it's definitely changing for the worse. There aren't any men's men anymore. This whole fiasco is a reflection of that.

So John Wayne is not wearing his #71 Jonathan Martin jersey? (You know that it will be a collector's item - Hayden has his).
Actually I don't think that Jonathan Martin is wearing his Jonathan Martin jersey - maybe set to ride off into the sunset...

I don't speak for "The Duke".....I do, however have a .30-30 and a replica Army Colt.

did you read my post

sorry, skimmed it. I was multitasking ;)

^^Alright alright, now that I got to play out my little joke, I'm done.

But getting back to the matter at hand, I think if a person such as Martin had mental issues, the onus is on him to seek help to fix the problem and fix it/manage it. Team and players can't be expected to handle him with kid gloves. If a normal person can take the environment, yet Martin can't, that's his issue to deal with. Unfortunately he dealt with it in a way that was incorrect and has led us here.

I agree, but like i said earlier, men just aren't men anymore. every generation gets weaker and weaker and if you read the report you see that martin is an overgrown mamas boy with some sort of mental illness, and obviously those two traits and a locker room atmosphere mix about as well as oil and water. At this point I just hope he's gone. I hope we trade him for as much as we can get and move on. I'm honestly not sure if we can cut him because I don't know if that would give him some grounds to sue. I just want to be rid of the pantywaste

Sorry to be a dick.

At any rate; I don't excuse bad behavior as mental illness.

You didn't fully answer the question. I've also been here for a long time in fact just a month off from you. But that doesn't explain why you insist to have such a strong opinion about the JM/RI situation, reply in many threads about it, start a thread although you haven't read the report.

"Maybe. Probably" is more than likely a no. And that is perfectly fine, you didn't have to be depressed to have an opinion about this, but you would know if you were. The reason I asked is because its hard to say one person should have just had the 'will' to stand up for himself simply because you could do it. I also think that he "should" have made a stand but I'm also not naive enough to think that I KNOW that he "could" have. Its possible that he just didn't have the ability to do so. Depression can be a very debilitating harness on how to rationally conduct your life.

The more lbs you put on doesn't decrease a person's emotion. Sorry.

I wouldn't know if I was depressed or not.

Have I had a gun in my mouth?

Yes. I have.

I don't know if that qualifies. I have no idea what "Mentally ill" is. You could probably
extend the definition as long as you want to and continue to make excuse after excuse.

That's the great thing about mental illness. Everything's excused. Nothing can be proven
or disproven.

I'm 6'1 and about treefiddy, and I promise you I'm emotional. But at the same time, I can
handle my business.

ETA; I have such a strong opinion about it because I believe that a man handles his business
with other men and the next day, things are figgured out. No controversy. No issues.
No problems.

GoonBoss - I read the report. It even got into the detail of J-mart locking himself in a toilet crying for 30 minutes while on a yacht. The guy does have serious depression issues and the suicidal stuff was not a joke. You can dismiss it as nothing but most therapists would say that there is a problem (and it can be treated with the right medication).

3 things "so I married an axe murderer" brilliant!! Second, everything is excused as mental illness - and yes it is fool proof. Lastly, I was bullied too and I began to stand up to people a lot bigger and I said "let"'s deal with this now!" And my adversaries didn't show up or backed off entirely and in the cases where they failed to show - i publicly shamed them as I was a lot smaller. I tell my kids the same - you will stand up for yourself and your siblings - don't go looking for trouble but don't be some ones mark

Was he drunk at the time?

I've had buddies do lots worse.

Regardless...............If this is the case, well, then has it JUST NOW become
availiable information? Were there incidents like this at Stanford?

At any rate, if he needed help it's not like his parents were gehtto. They
were well educated professionals.

I find it hard to believe that Martin had nowhere to turn.

"So I Married An Axe Murderer" is like one of my favorite movies ever.

I agree with the thought he had depression/mental issues. I think that if a normal person was treated the same way, like others in the locker room have been, they can handle it and it isn't an issue. But because he does have mental problems, now all of a sudden he's a victim though?

At some point, depressed or not, it's your life. You have to decide how you're going to live and if you're gonna get help or not.

He seemed pretty self aware of his issues in the texts & such he sent his mom. He chose not to deal with his problems. He chose to stop going to therapy and not seek different help.
